A Tale of Two Kingdoms

By: Beloved Bondservant
This month we are full swing into the Spring Feast patiently anticipating what would be the climax of them all.  While the world is on the edge of their seats with concern over the shaking of the Middle East and riddled with paranoia as we await more news of terrorism and what is being labeled as “acts of terror” performed by those with “mental disorders” in the U.S. Democrats and Republicans polarized attitude has policy making in a complete gridlock and the world economy continues in limbo.  It would appear everyone in the world is waiting on something to happen whether that something is peace or destruction.  However, for those who know their Elohim they are doing what He said to do during this time.  Not in the slightest moved by the events that they see but rather recognizing the importance of taking advantage of this time to pull those who are on the path to destruction out of the fire and into the ark of safety.  I am reminded of the opening of a very popular book that reveals the duality precisely that we find ourselves in, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”.1  This phrase would be my inspiration for a title this month because that is what is at stake.  The kingdom of darkness versus the kingdom of light.  There is a war being waged against the children of the Most High and the enemy is shrewd yet those who know their God shall do exploits even in the midst of the confusion.  Make no mistake we cannot afford to be distracted by side issues in this hour, but rather we must choose a side.
As relationships on all levels are being challenged by the word of God we are all being pulled to one side or the other.  We are being required to put our money where our mouth is.  The world is watching to see if our actions will emulate our words or if we will compromise on issues that the scripture is firm on.  While scripture makes it clear that we see darkly as through a glass, now I know in part, but there is coming a time when I will see face to face and will know as I am known.2   But for now we are not judged by that which we can’t know, but rather by that which has been made known.  We are told to obey God not according to our understanding why He said to, but because He said to.
Make no mistake there are two kingdoms at work in the world today, and either you are in the kingdom of darkness or the kingdom of light.  Scripture makes it very clear what the distinction is between the two and each individual will make a choice as to which kingdom they will ultimately be apart of.  There is no middle ground we must choose.
Paul, a bondservant of Yahoshua (Jesus) called an Apostle warns us that we ought not to put any confidence in the flesh.3  The world tells us the order in which we should prioritize our lives is mind, body, and spirit, which elevates mankind’s intellect and his flesh above his spirit.   The word of God tells us that He sanctifies our whole spirit, and soul, and body, which emphasizes putting the spirit first.4   We are admonished to both walk in the spirit and live in the spirit so that we do not fulfill the lust of the flesh.5   The world system says we ought to do what feels good to us because it’s the fittest who survives.  Yet, Yah instructed us through the Apostle Paul to offer ourselves as living sacrifices unto YHWH and to not be conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of our minds for the purpose of proving what is His good, acceptable, and perfect will.6   Revealing that life isn’t about me and what I can get out of it, but that I was created with purpose and my life should be about fulfilling that purpose to wit I was created.
We are called to put off the old manner of man that we were and to become new creatures in Christ.7   In every decision we make to align ourselves with Christ and the kingdom he preached we find ourselves stepping out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.  However, we mustn’t get frustrated or ahead of ourselves, this transition is a process based on consistently making right choices, not an overnight transformation.  Simultaneously as we enter into his light darkness is removed.  We naturally see this if we understand the principle of how darkness works.  Darkness doesn’t go away, its light that penetrates darkness and thus darkness is the absence of light as ignorance is the absence of knowledge.  However, this knowledge mustn’t only be heard with the natural ear, but most importantly applied to the heart in order to be of any profit.  Just as we in the natural have the ability to remove darkness from our mist by simply pulling a switch, we too have the ability to pull the switch on ignorance by allowing His word which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path to take us from where we are to where we need to go.9
These words of Paul echo the instructions our Messiah gave us before he left this earthly tabernacle to once again join His Father in His immortal body.  Yahoshua showed us how His kingdom operated and how different it was from that of the world.  It was so clear that Paul was able to share this knowledge in his letter to the Philippians by stating that Christ made himself of no reputation and took upon himself the form of a servant.10 Begging the question in our modern Christianity do our words and deeds reflect this truth?  Are we doing those things that Messiah said not to, and neglecting those things he said to do?
How many of us live and take refuge in the titles people give to us?  When have you heard or said of yourself as the Apostle Paul does in his epistles that you are a bondservant of Messiah, acknowledging what others call you rather then pointing it out or placing it on your business card?  How many servants of YHWH find themselves feeling disrespected when others don’t associate them with their title?  The very thing Messiah said ought not to be in His kingdom.  He revealed those who do such things as things that Gentiles do, but makes it clear that it ought not to be so among us, but rather we are to consider ourselves brethren.11  The greatest in his kingdom is not the one who is served, but the one who serves others.12  He showed us by washing his disciples feet and he not only showed, but stated that, if he who they call master does this for them that they should do this for each other.13
This month as we continue to count the Omer these things have come together to help me understand some things about myself.  I can be the very obstacle in the way of allowing the light to expose my ignorance.  Even as a believer there are dark areas within us that we don’t want others to see.  There are crevices, nooks, and crannies and in some instances entire rooms that are in utter disarray that we would prefer hide from the presence of God rather then allow him to correct some flaws in our thinking.  By our ignorance we become a hindrance to the work God desires to do through us for others.  We become the tree that bares fruit in which others don’t eat.  The leaves on a plant absent of aroma because we allow our shadow to block his light and rather then becoming a catalyst for growth we become a diversion to it.
While we are called to be light, we mustn’t forget that He is the Source of the light we are called to be.  We must not be satisfied with merely being in agreement with each other, but if we are to inherit the kingdom of Heaven we are called to be in and encouraged to bring others into agreement with the Creator.  For this was the mission of the Light that came into the earth to restore us unto the Father.  Division shall come for the word sake and scripture makes it clear, but peace only comes when we are walking in harmony with the Creator.14   We are neither the goal nor the destination but rather the sign that with our actions either are leading people to the Kingdom of Light or to the Kingdom of Darkness.  Therefore if we are to be light we must ourselves walk in the light and if we are to be effective in completing the great commission to which we are called we must be sensitive to the Spirit of God in our delivery as well as in word.  Woe unto us if our own pride prohibits others from seeing the truth of the Word of God.
Indeed there are two kingdoms that we are betwixt, but there is only one that will stand in the end.  It is my prayer that those who are reading this article are operating in the Kingdom of Light and therefore dispelling the Kingdom of Darkness.  If you are not I encourage you to know the Lord so you can walk in the light as He is in the light.14

The Chicken Conspiracy

Deciphering the myriad of terminology applied to our meats are as mysterious as determining the difference between Grade A,B, and C oils with only one more concerning issue, we are more then likely going to consume more meat in a year then oil in a year making understanding the labels that much more important.  The terminology is so confusing that the average consumer doesn’t have a true reference point to determine the difference, and it doesn’t help that other then the wording on the packaging one cannot tell the difference by looking between organic and what is labeled 100% natural.  Even more confusing is the fact that the exact same company can have two different labels for the chicken causing more confusion and creating questions concerning integrity.  If you are a health conscious individual that’s concerned with bringing home the highest quality food available to your table then you are paying the extra in hopes that the extra is maintaining the standard that they are presenting, but how can we truly know?
This month I decided to cover this topic when I came across an article concerning changing the laws governing the treatment of chickens being processed for meat purposes.  As a result there are two aspects of this topic I would like to cover, distinguishing the labeling that we see on the chicken we purchase and looking at the differences between Halal and Kosher chicken as a viable alternative.
If you have ever entered a grocery store and checked out the section labeled poultry you would notice a variety of chicken options provided with large print indicating the following:  “100% natural”, “No antibiotics added”,  “Organic”, “Free Range” and if you are in specialty stores even “Kosher”, but what does that mean?  Deceptive wording and an increase in cost would lead you to believe that one is definitely better then the other and surely the “certified USDA Organic” label sounds official enough, but when the rubber meets the road what is the difference?  Is it even a large enough difference to warrant the increase in cost?    While there are many factors that go into why you as an individual may consider the value of buying this meat to be important, understanding what you as a consumer are investing in is paramount to making a wise decision.
There are many factors that should be considered in determining why you purchase your meat.  For those who cost is the most important priority then this article may seem of little value to you.  However, I would persuade even that person to read because when health is a viable factor expense diminishes in its level of priority.
Is health a viable factor in determining which chicken to purchase? At the end of this article you will find a glossary of terms that will help you to know what it is you are buying.  This information will help you to see the difference.  However, many of us have different reasons for purchasing whatever we purchase.  If environmental factors concern you then “Free Range”, “Cage Free”, and humanely treated poultry is going to be the “label” that best fits you.  The truth of the matter is if you are purchasing as a consumer you are purchasing a product from a plant that you have not personally inspected, so you really have no sure way of knowing whether or not these labels are accurate.  In fact currently there is a case against the popular “USDA Organic” brand Harvestland that is sold at Wal-mart for failing to provide humane conditions for their flock. Citation  Those who are environmentally conscious were outraged, but if you have never done any research on the company yourself you would still be purchasing this product thinking you are doing your bid for creating a better environment for chickens.
Then you have those whose main concern is health.  Harvestland’s treatment of their animals are of less concern to them than their processing, and feeding practices since these two factors directly affect the quality of the meat presenting a health issue for you as a consumer, by default those primarily concerned with health are going to also be concerned about how they are treated.  The fact of the matter is with budget cuts and regulations that favor the producer more than the consumer there is little being done to enforce the laws or practices required, and without proper regulation you won’t know the flaws in these practices until you see the recalls that appear on the six o’clock news.
There is yet another factor that governs the purchase of chicken that takes in consideration the others mentioned, but prioritizes a moral obligation based on a Higher law of governance. This would be those who choose their meat based on religious purposes. The word of God has much to say about what animals are considered food, what practices should be done in the processing of animals, and what our attitude should be concerning that which we eat.  The two prominent religiously protected meats are Jewish and Islamic.  In the practices associated the meats that are allowed to be eaten are based on writings from either the Bible or Quran. Both are based on properly disposing of the blood of the animal and do so based on a religious conviction, but that is about where the similarities end.  According to an Islamic website both Muslims and Jews pray over the animal that they are to slaughter. Citation  However, a website from the Texas A & M Agrilife extension acknowledges that Islam prays over their meat but states that Kosher practices does not incorporate prayers. Citation  On yet another website it is stated that Jews profess the name of God on the first and last animal that is slaughtered due to the belief that the name of God should not be wasted. Citation  More then likely what is being labeled as a prayer over the animal in Kosher killing would be more or less a blessing over the animal.  However, of the three I believe this last explanation for Kosher, is more consistent with the current and historical teachings of Orthodox Judaism because it coincides with the reasoning behind why the name of God (YHWH) in our bibles have been replaced with LORD.
As a Christian the factor that tends to keep us from understanding the importance of the two is that both religions have a respect for God, but a denial of the Son.  The curious component of Kosher is that the Messiah that we serve is from the tribe of Judah, and share the same respect and belief in the same words of the bible.  Yet the bible makes it clear without the son we do not have the father which creates somewhat of a conundrum as a believer because both deny the Son, believe in a Heavenly Father, that there is one God, and embrace a respect for even if not a complete obedience to His word.1 Jn 5:12
So with the knowledge of a faulty governing system that has minimal enforcement on the handling and inspection of the processing and care of poultry there seems to be no way a concerned citizen can become a good steward over the matter other then to cut out poultry from their diet or raise their own.  As a Messianic believer the concern hinges on two factors, while the environmental responsibility for and the health benefits of, and biblically obedient practices of the treatment of chicken makes Kosher or Halel chicken a much healthier option there are obvious concerns of a higher value to take in consideration.
As a Messianic believer the issue for me concerning Halel and Kosher is somewhat difficult.  I understand that in essence Islam biblically represent the ancestors of Ishmael which means they share the same father Abraham as those of Israel.  In fact they would be biologically the big half brother of Isaac making them an uncle of Jacob.  Realizing that the Father that Ishmael was taught of would have been the same one that Abraham respected, which would greatly explain why similarities between the two exist.  It would also explain why Islam does not have a problem with the Bible, nor reject the existence of Yahoshua (Jesus) and even acknowledge him as a prophet, though they deny him as a deity.
On the other side of the equation we have the Jews who also reject the Messiah, they do not believe in the Quran, but have their own book called the Talmud which also would be guilty of adding to and taking away from the word of God with its rituals and practices that are put on the same level of scripture, who acknowledge the God of Abraham yet deny the deity of the Son, Yahoshua (Jesus).  Hence, both as it relates to the issue of religion present some fundamental flaws.  As it stands until it can be proven conclusively that the God of Islam is not the same one that was taught to Ishmael, I am subject to having no opinion concerning the lawful or unlawful eating of Halel foods.  The only basis under which I could deny eating foods from them is on the basis of idolatry in which it has not been conclusively revealed that the One they address as Father is not the same as those of Judah or us as Christians.  The misrepresenting or misunderstanding of the will of the Father in this issue cannot have bearing no more then it could have during the time that Christians were guilty of the same.  Many Jews were killed under the guise of a belief that this was what the Father desired as a result of their belief that Jews were responsible for the death of Christ and therefore deserving of their mistreatment.  If I use the disdain they have for each other or the addition of the Quran as a basis for refusal then I am forced to also look at Judah for its acts against Christians and its addition of the Talmud.  While I do not seek out Halel foods I cannot label foods prayed over by Islam as prayers to another God until it is conclusively revealed that the God they are serving is not the God of Abraham.
Furthermore, unless I am willing to give up meat, find a Hebrew Congregation that believes in the Messiah who sell their own biblically fit and properly killed chicken, or raise my own chickens and kill and eat them myself the issue is as simple as this for me.  If I am going to eat chicken and I have to choose between that which has no respect for God at all, (evolutionary in its thinking) which underlies our current educational system or eat meat that at least honors even if it adds to the Biblical requirement as my option then my first choice would be Kosher over all the other labels mentioned and presented.  My basis is this, a practice that rejects a respect for God and the laws of God is closer to idolatry then one that attempts to honor God, but falls short of perfection.  My conviction is this Paul (Shaul) who was the Apostle to the Gentiles that was sent to the land where the Gentiles were, understood that we who are scattered would be subject to situations that are not ideal.  His wisdom concerning food (which it is clear that Paul being a Benjamite would have eaten only those foods that God identified as food in the beginning) that was offered up to idols was only an issue as it related to fellowship, and the basis for that was love.  Because in context if you were to eat something that was told to you was offered up to an idol it would be looked at by others who may be weak in their faith as you endorsing whatever that religion was.  Hence, Shaul makes it clear in 1 Cor. 10:19 that an idol is nothing. The issue was where you ate it, and the focus was because of whom would see it.  Therefore, although I recognize biologically muslims are descendents of Ishmael, the fact of the matter is Hebrew or not they reject the Messiah of Israel, and their lack of belief in the Messiah if I were to eat at their table in the presence of a brother who was weaker in his faith could present a problem, because their lack of understanding could cause them to be led away from Christ.  But please understand that today many Christians are turning to Judaism and are renouncing a belief in Yahoshua over the same issue.

For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? (1Co 8:10-11)

Neither of these passages apply to me as a consumer purchasing a package of chicken from the grocery store to feed my family.  However, as a steward responsible for providing a healthy meal for my family as the cook it is my responsibility to ensure that I am providing the best quality food I can.  At this time the best quality food I know of is that which comes from Kosher certification, from personal experience and research and it is because of that only is it my first choice to purchase.
I present the information above and below not to influence or endorse any particular type of chicken for you to purchase, but so that you can understand why it is important as a consumer for you to know why you are doing what you do.  What is the purpose behind what you buy?
I also present the information that I do so that you can have all the information available to make a sound decision with your eyes wide open.  What you decide to bring home to your family should be your choice, but everyone has the right to know what the choices are.  I purposely didn’t pick out or add my comments on the information provided through this article in an effort to present a less biased view of the issue at hand.  There are too many people trying to sway you in one direction or another and most with their own personal motives behind them.  This article is just to present the facts as I have researched them, evidence, and resources as I cannot recommend or endorse any particular company on the topic because practices and changes occur so rapidly in this industry that without unbiased third party inspectors which appear to not be available in this industry there is no conclusive way anyone can know for sure they are getting even what is being printed on the package.
Having said that you may be asking, then why pay extra?  The only reason to politically purchase organic, or free range chicken is because whether or not the practices are on board or not, by our purchase as citizens we are voting.  Every package of organic chicken purchased says that we do care about where our food comes from, how our chicken is treated, what our chickens eat, and how they are processed.  As a believer by purchasing Kosher I say that plus I believe the Bible is the only means by which we can determine what food is and the fit and proper preparation of food.  The distinction being Halel foods don’t stay true to the Biblical diet prescribed in the Old Testament, thus making it a weaker option between the two.  For the sake of future generations, yes, paying a little more if I can afford it is better, especially if it means that it will make chicken producers take note that the citizens of the U.S. do care about the food that we eat.

Organic Certification
Organic chicken must be fed only certified organic feed, which is grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides, from the time they are two days old. They may not receive hormones or antibiotics at any time, though they may receive vaccinations to prevent common diseases. Though they may be kept inside temporarily for specific purposes like medical treatment or to protect the quality of soil or water, they must be given reasonable access to the outdoors.
Free Range Certification
In order to label chicken as free-range, producers must demonstrate through affidavits or testimonials that their poultry have free, continuous access to the outdoors for more than half of their lives. The free-range label is slightly controversial, since some producers insist that the label applies even if the birds do not actually go outdoors very much or at all — they merely need the option to go outside. Other producers think it should only apply if the birds make use of the outdoor area.
Research does show the meat from organic and grass-fed animals can be higher in healthy fatty acids, Havrila says. “The grain that they’re fed has other things in it, including antibiotics. The grain is manipulated and can have additives,” Citation
Cage-free: This sounds like it’s interchangeable with free range, but it only applies to egg-laying hens. They aren’t in a cage and have unlimited access to food and water. But they don’t necessarily get to go outside.
Free-range:  This term only applies to poultry that will eventually end up on your dinner plate, not egg-laying hens or any other animals. It means the animal must be allowed to go outside. “There’s no regulated standard for how big that area needs to be or how long they get to be out there,” Havrila says.
Grass-fed: Only applies to ruminants such as cattle, sheep, goats and bison. The animal must have continuous access to a pasture during the growing season and can only be fed grass, forbs, legumes and cereal grains still in a pre-grain (vegetative) state.
According to USDA regulations, animals labeled “grass-fed” also cannot be confined to a pen or feed lot or given antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones.
Natural: Minimally processed and no artificial colors and flavorings. Without this label, beef may have color added so it will retain a redder, fresh appearance instead of turning brown at the store.
Naturally raised: Applies to livestock raised without added hormones and antibiotics.
No hormones added: This is the one that tripped me up. The U.S. Department of Agriculture prohibits the use of growth hormones in poultry, pigs raised for pork, veal calves and exotic meat such as bison. If a manufacturer wants to say, “No hormones added” on the packaging of these meats, it must include a disclaimer explaining this. But the disclaimer might be in easily-overlooked tiny print.
“It’s like when a vegan product says, ‘cholesterol free,’ when the only place cholesterol comes from is animals,” Havrila says. “I’ve seen people spend more money to buy poultry that says, ‘no hormones.’”
Organic: Can apply to any meat. The animals were not given antibiotics or hormones and their feed contained no synthetic herbicides or pesticides. The manufacturer must get organic certification from an independent agency.
“The meat will have natural hormones,” Havrila says. “Just like we have hormones in our body, animals do too.”
Pasture raised: Animal lived outdoors without confinement. Citation

MECHANICALLY SEPARATED POULTRY
is a paste-like and batter-like poultry product produced by forcing bones with attached edible tissue through a sieve or similar device under high pressure to separate bone from the edible tissue. Mechanically separated poultry has been used in poultry products since 1969. In 1995, a final rule on mechanically separated poultry said it would be used without restrictions. However, it must be labeled as “mechanically separated chicken or mechanically separated turkey” (depending on the kind of poultry used) in the ingredients statement. The final rule became effective November 4, 1996.

NATURAL:
A product containing no artificial ingredient or added color and is only minimally processed. Minimal processing means that the product was processed in a manner that does not fundamentally alter the product. The label must include a statement explaining the meaning of the term natural (such as “no artificial ingredients; minimally processed”).

NO HORMONES (pork or poultry):
Hormones are not allowed in raising hogs or poultry. Therefore, the claim “no hormones added” cannot be used on the labels of pork or poultry unless it is followed by a statement that says “Federal regulations prohibit the use of hormones.” Citation

There are no federal welfare laws governing the raising, transport, or slaughter of poultry in the United States. Citation
Poultry falls outside the protections of the federal Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, the law which applies to pork and beef, so there are no mandatory federal standards for the slaughter of poultry. Citation

Halal and Kosher

Similarities between Halal and Kosher:
  1. Both Halal and Kosher apply ritual slaughter of animals/birds pronouncing prayers by a follower of the faith at the time of slaughter.
  2. Both use a sharp knife to cut through the neck of the animal in a certain fashion to ensure thorough bleed out of the carcass.
  3. Both methods of slaughter are proven to be more humane than the regular industrial practices.
  4. Both rituals are concerned about the health and safety (wholesomeness) of the food they certify.
  5. Both Muslims and religious Jews do not eat pork or its derivatives.
  6. Both Muslims and Jews do not eat the meat of predators or birds of prey.
Differences between Halal and Kosher:
1.    The Muslim slaughtermen  usually pronounce the prayer on each animal at the time of slaughter. The Jewish Rabbi usually pronounce the prayer only once at the beginning of the slaughtering session.
2.    In Halal slaughter, the animals may be directed to Qiblah, whereas no such direction during the kosher slaughter
3.    In Kosher slaughter, the Rabbis examine the lungs and viscera of the carcass to check for discoloration and scars in these organs. In the Halal slaughter no such exams made and the health issues are usually left to the government officials and/or quality control personnel at the facility. This is why not every Kosher kill passes the approval, usually with an average of 50% or less of the carcasses may qualify for the Kosher stamp.
4.    For the meat to be considered Kosher, only the front side of the animal (i.e. beef) is certified Kosher but not the hind quarters, because of the issue of de-vanning. In Halal, all edible meats and offal of the Halal slaughtered carcasses of healthy animals can be labeled Halal.
5.     In the Kosher processing the meat is soaked in salt for about two hours then rinsed with water, to remove traces of blood from the meat. In the Halal processing the meat is not soaked in salt because only the flowing blood is prohibited from consumption by Muslims.
6.    Religious Muslims don’t drink alcohol which is acceptable by Jews.
7.    Religious Jews don’t mix milk and meat, nor do they eat shellfish or fish without scales.
Is Kosher Halal?
Some Muslim authorities allow the consumption of Kosher, especially when Halal is not available, considering the traditions of most schools of thought and following the verse in the Holy Quran:
“اليوم طعام الذين أوتوا الكتاب حل لكم و طعامهم حل لكم”
“And today its proclaimed that the Food of the People of the Book are Lawful to You and Your Foods are Lawful to Them”  ( 5:5 ).
Many Muslim scholar, however, say, for one reason or another, that Kosher cannot be a substitute for Halal, and a person may consume Kosher but cannot buy Kosher from the market , label it Halal and sell it to Muslims. Others claim that the drive for prohibition of certification of Kosher is only for political and economic reasons. Citation

Ritualistic slaughter

Ritual slaughter is known as shechitah, and the person who performs the slaughter is called a “shochet,” both from the Hebrew root Shin-Chet-Tav, meaning to destroy or kill. The method of slaughter is a quick, deep stroke across the throat with a perfectly sharp blade with no nicks or unevenness. This method is painless, causes unconsciousness within two seconds, and is widely recognized as the most humane method of slaughter possible.
Another advantage of shechitah is that ensures rapid, complete draining of the blood, which is also necessary to render the meat kosher.
The shochet is not simply a butcher; he must be a pious man, well-trained in Jewish law, particularly as it relates to kashrut. In smaller, more remote communities, the rabbi and the shochet were often the same person. Citation
One differentiation between Halal and Kosher is that before slaughter, Halal requires the praying to Allah. Kosher does not require a prayer to God before slaughtering. Citation

A Hebrew Moment
Lamed
Lamed is the twelfth character of the Hebrew Alephbet.  It is the picture of a shepherd’s staff.  It is with the staff that a Shepherd directs its flock, making it no great wonder that Yah would use a rod, in the hand of Moses to lead His people out of Egypt.  The functional meaning of Lamed is authority and scripturally we see that principle throughout scripture where “the rod” or “staff” is mentioned.
El
God
This two letter word projects such an accurate picture of God.  As we discussed in the first newsletter Aleph means first and strength.  So when we look at the characters together we see that both paint an accurate picture of the character of God.  He is the first authority and the strong authority.  According to “Sharing the Word” by Frank Seekins Lamed is also seen as voice which also is very accurate.  Portraying Yah as the first voice, which He is the first voice spoken in creation, along with being the first authority from whom all authority originates.

Have ye any swords
By: Beloved Bondservant
In the wake of a devastating catastrophe of unexpected proportions that occurred in a well to do town of Connecticut, unimaginable terror visited them this December.  This is the anticipated terror thousands of schools across our nation have to fearfully endure.  While many of our hearts are heavy for the family members who are left to pick up the pieces of losing children that they birthed through much travail with hopes of outliving them now lost, we are now trying to find answers.  Psychology, science, and even organized religion have failed us in determining matters of the human heart.  We have attempted to do that which seems right in our own eyes for far too long and find ourselves baffled by the way current events are unfolding.  While our eyes weep for the loss of young lives taken way before their time, I cannot help but see the hypocrisy that is involved every time I hear over and over again news media state things like, “we never would have expected it here in this well to do community.”  The implication suggests that this sort of thing is expected amongst the lower levels of society but not in more affluent ones. This once in a blue moon catastrophe is the every day reality school children across this nation in less desirable communities have to face.  How many of us remember growing up and after doing something wrong our parents telling us, “We were going to get it.”  Many of us thought to ourselves knowing it was coming and waiting was a lot worse then the actual whipping itself.  In fact we would rather have them get it over with rather then prolong the wait.  This is the reality many of our minority youth have to face daily.  Walking the halls amongst metal detectors, and security guards, both staff and students wondering what new challenge or fear tactic they must endure amongst the threat of gang violence, drug dealers, and just children who are rebels at heart because they do not have the presence of a strong male figure in their home to guide them in the right direction.  Where are the tears for what is an everyday fear for those parents?  Where are the around the clock coverage, and television interviews for them?
A Nation without Fathers is a nation without Yah!
Why do we just have an expectation that this sort of behavior is expected and therefore okay if it happens in the ghettos of our nation, and only an act of terrorism worthy of preventing at any cost from reoccurring when it touches the wealthy sectors of our nation?  We can only expect that as we continue to rebel against the written statutes, judgments, right rulings, and commandments of the Almighty that no one will be safe without Him.  Scripture clearly states that a nation is blessed when its God is the Lord (YHWH).1  We were once that nation and reaped bountifully the harvest of blessings from acknowledging Him as the Giver of our rights.  The systemic replacement of the proper head as directed by scripture is in large part responsible for the challenges we face today.  In the book of Deuteronomy God provides an answer to our current dilemma.  He clearly states, “The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.”2   I don’t believe anyone would deny that the event that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut was done by an enemy.   Yet, the promise of the Almighty is he would cause our enemies that rise up against us to be smitten before us, the implication being that though we will have enemies they would not be victorious in their attack against us.  Of course this promise is predicated on us following the instructions given in the first verse of the same chapter, which instructs us to hearken to the voice of Yah.3    However, the same chapter reveals to us that if we decide not to hearken to the voice of YHWH our Elohim that the following would occur, “The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.”  I would submit to you that gun control, regulations, and any other government restrictions will not change the downward spiral that we find ourselves in.  Only, and I submit only a return to hearkening to the voice of the Almighty will gain us the victory over senseless brutality, murder, and the like.
While many debate the biblical roots that our nation was founded upon one would have to ignore the preponderance of evidence to the contrary that is found all over the ceilings, walls, and unrevised history books of our nation to deny it.  A foundation that acknowledged that our Creator has given us rights, not a king, not a judge, not the legislature, but God alone.  Yet, no one seems to make the connection between the increase in violence, the economic slump, the security breach, and the health care crisis.  This link being we have forsaken YHWH our Elohim.   I encourage you if you have not already to read my July article entitled, “Who Are We”.
We have forsaken the voice of the Almighty and as a result our children have forsaken our voice.  They have turned on their own parents and yet we still don’t see the connection.  The prophet Malachi revealed this very dilemma we face as well as the solution, which is to return.  The fathers must turn their hearts back to their children.  This fact cannot be circumvented or replaced with government.  God did not give government jurisdiction to supersede parental authority.  The second part is the children must turn their hearts back to the Father’s.  The promise at the end of that statement is that the earth will be smite with a curse as a result of hearts not returning.4   Hence, we as a nation are reaping from our disobedience to the voice and ways of Yah and no amount of human effort or good intentions will change our need to obey by returning to Him and His laws.  No more then being a good person would prevent you from dying if you fell off the roof of a thirty story building.  The Laws of God are like the Laws of Gravity they apply to all.
A Time to Fight
Yahoshua (Jesus) made it clear that the hour of darkness would come when he left.5  He instructed his disciples to buy them some weapons (swords).6  He is still gone and we still find ourselves under the power of darkness.  The book of Macabbees reveals the importance of taking up arms to defend that which is right, precious, and worthy of holding on to, which is the commandments, statutes, and right rulings of the Almighty.   Restricting the innocent from protecting themselves will not provide protection from the rebels who by and large gain their weaponry illegally anyway.  I noticed Yahoshua’s response during this time was not to disarm his disciples who were commissioned to spread the good news of the gospel, but rather to take arms.  These arms of course were never to be used offensively against God’s authority and the scriptures reveal that consistently.  The Messiah himself didn’t take arms to protect even his own life when brought into the high courts of Pontius Pilate or Herod, but as a lamb dumb before his shearer He spoke not a word.7  Paul also in the book of Romans8, clearly reveals the purpose of God’s delegated authority, but rather we are called to pray for authority. To what end?  The book of Timothy says so we might live a peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.9  The kingdom of heaven hath suffered violence, and the violent took it by force.10  Which tells me that when we are in the midst of war the worst thing one could do is find themselves without both armor or weaponry.   Yet, I would be remiss if I only spoke to you concerning physical weaponry, because the word of Yah reveals that the weapons of the believer are not carnal, but mighty through God in pulling down strongholds, casting down imaginations, and every vain thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Yah.11  Its important to keep in mind that it is through God that our weapons are mighty to accomplish the things following it.  Apart from Him we can do nothing and I am convinced that as a nation it is going to take us suffering failure in attempting to walk alone in the dark to discover how desperately we are in need of His light.
We cannot fight a spiritual dilemma with physical armor.  Our lack of understanding the spiritual world has caused us to diagnose a spiritual void with a physical symptom.  Until we realize that the answer to this problem will not be answered by man’s intellect through textbooks, or psychological prognosis, but rather in us reconnecting with our purpose for living on this earth we will continue to see the rise of serial suicide murderers.  We have replaced the truth of God’s word with the lie of evolution and now face the end result of our erroneous conclusion.  A child not taught to respect the Creator, will have even less respect for parents, and even less respect for government thereby reaping the harvest in which he was sown.  For the few who have ears to hear and eyes to see that we are moving in a direction that leads to death rather then life they are discovering the bigger picture.  They are understanding that life without purpose is not living but existing and there is a big difference between the two.  They are grasping the message of Jeremiah, that we have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.12 Just like HIV you can’t determine someone’s spiritual condition by judging them by their outward appearance.  The young man guilty of this atrocity was existing, he was the walking living dead and life couldn’t be in him, because it is only the breath of the Most High that produces life.13  It is that part of man that money can’t buy, sex can’t replace, and family can’t fulfill, yet with it all those other things become more rewarding and fulfilling, and without it life becomes only a painful reminder of that void.
To conclude, most of us will follow the road that leads to death it is a fact of life, but if recent events don’t spark the question that begs an answer of what’s the point of life, then we are missing the lessons Yah is teaching us.  If we miss that then I suspect more hard lessons will come that will bring us to the point of asking, because I find that like children we only seem to hear when we have begun to ask.  There are places where the spiritual sword will take you that the physical sword can’t touch; if we are resting in Him whether we live or die our life will fulfill meaning and purpose.  The battle starts in the spirit, but being human we must first understand it in the natural.  Hence, this is why Paul would say there is first that which is natural, then that which is spiritual.14 Paul is speaking from the state in which we come into the world.  Since Adam we have been born into iniquity and shapen in sin.15  We are born in the flesh, to hopefully be reborn in the spirit.  It is this spiritual birth that without it we have no understanding of purpose or meaning to life.  Which is why Yahoshua told Nicodemus if you do not understand natural things you will not be able to understand spiritual things.16
Rest assured the battle we are fighting today is spiritual and our lack of discernment can cause us to see more fatal catastrophes in the future.  As long as we continue to close our door to God in this nation, we will by default open our door to Satan.  I encourage my readers, in this hour it is important as believers that we are ready to meet Yahoshua at anytime, and not to take for granted that those we love will have tomorrow.  In light of current events let us love one another more and more as we see the day of darkness approaching closer and closer.
1 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. (Psa 33:12)
2 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. (Deu 28:7)
3 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. (Deu 28:1-2)
4 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. (Mal 4:6)
5 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.  (Luk 22:53)
6 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.  (Luk 22:36)
7 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. (Act 8:32-33)
8 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. (Rom 13:1-6)
9 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.(1Ti 2:2)
10 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.(Mat 11:12)
11 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)(2Co 10:4)
12 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.(Jer 16:19)
13 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.(Gen 2:7)
14 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. (1Co 15:46-47)
15 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. (Psa 51:5)
16 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. (Joh 3:3-8)

The Great Beverage Deception
By Beloved Bondservant

This month we are going to expose the truth behind the beverage deception.  Many of us have been wooed by the saturation in the market of flavor enhanced water.  Have been tired of the plain taste of the best beverage for the body and have decided to trade it in for a new and improved model, or is it?  We have traded in our soda addictions and put aside our electrolyte booster for the new vitamin and mineral water enhanced drinks or add-on’s.
But is it really safe?
I mean who can resist combining water with its all too familiar bland taste with vitamins and minerals which for those who are over the flintstones age limit has a more medicinal flavor. Yuck!! So of course, a much more mature and convenient choice would be to provide a necessary beverage a twist and target it to those who have learned that nothing can replace the true thirst quencher by dressing it up with necessary vitamins and minerals.  Those who weren’t impressed with the electrolyte boosters or the energy sprucers, who have dodged the caffeine addictions of coffee, tea, and soda will be a sure shoe in for water enhancers?
But before we put our water aside let’s really look inside of the ingredients of these flavor enhanced waters and see if they truly stand up to the claims that they make.  Let’s first discuss the sugar intake of these substances.  If your bland water now has a sweet kick, you’d best believe sugar has been added and in most cases not the natural juice of pomegranates and oranges are the culprits for this burst of flavor but rather as Mercola’s website poignantly identifies vitamin water as a “candy bar in a bottle”.1  With some of these flavored beverages containing as much as 33 grams of sugar per 20 ounce bottle.  Crystalline fructose is 99% fructose, whereas HFCS is only 55 percent fructose.  Fructose is known to significantly raise triglyceride levels, which in turn raises your risk of heart disease because it metabolizes into triglycerides and fat, not glucose.  In addition to that crystalline fructose may be contaminated with arsenic, lead, chloride, and heavy metals.
The Truth Behind that Energy Boost!
Is it the fortification of vitamins and minerals that is giving you that energy boost or, could it be the caffeine content?  Many of these hidden health drinks contain as much caffeine as 6 ounces of Starbucks coffee or 12 ounces of Folgers mountain brew.
So now lets see if it at least meets the standards to which they claim.  Is it indeed a vitamin drink?  Some of these drinks are making claims that don’t fit the bill.  Click here and read the test results recorded on Mercola’s website concerning the enhanced water claims savvy advertising eludes too.
Giving your water a Refreshing twist
Like you I too like to add a little kick to my favorite natural thirst quencher.  Don’t worry, like every other publication I always like to leave you on a sweet note.  There are some alternatives mentioned on Mercola’s site, however, I would like to add my own and that is Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils, of course.  (Shameless plug-in)  Lemon, Citrus Fresh, Peppermint, Orange, Grapefruit, Lime, and Lavender are just a few of the choices available to enhance your water.  If you must have that sweet taste included then keep a few packets of stevia or Emergen-C which is an excellent way to add vitamin C to your water, and the taste of carbonation.
The benefit of essential oils is its convenience and potency.  Let’s face it, how many of us want to carry a whole lemon in our purse?  Or how convenient is it to bring a pouch of fresh herbs, not to mention the minute you break the plant from its root the freshness diminishes.  However, by keeping Lemon oil in your purse in a small 15 ml bottle you are able to harvest the fresh taste of lemon without losing any of its benefits to the body.  Added bonus to adding peppermint oil over the herb is one drop of peppermint oil is equal to 26 cups of peppermint tea.  Hence, you get the power of drinking 26 cups of tea in one drop, and for you weight watchers just the smell of peppermint oil curbs the appetite.  Grapefruit oil helps you to lose weight and fight cellulose.  Lemon oil is excellent for detoxing the liver.  I encourage you to purchase an EODR (Essential Oils Desk Reference) and there you will discover the many Essential Oils available for enhancing your water.
I also would encourage you to invest in a safe BPA free glass bottle to take with you instead of buying bottled water.  It is important to note that bottled water is less regulated then public water sources which means that much of the water you are getting may simply be tap water disguised as fresh filtered water.  You also don’t know how close that water being harvested is to a land fill or the like.

You can simply and more economically filter your own water and with just a little forethought and planning you can ensure that you have fresh water with you on the go.  Most of us have a daily routine especially if we work so our schedules are not a surprise to us, by planning to keep a water bottle in your lunch box or in a dark place within your car you can avoid having to buy water on the go.  By keeping your water in safe BPA free glass containers you can safely store water in your vehicle without concerning yourself with chemical solvents being leached into your water.  Of course if you live in an area where there is extreme hot weather or cold weather it would be advisable to keep this water in a cool dry place such as the trunk of your car to avoid too much exposure to sunlight or the harshness of the elements.

Every person should drink half their body weight in fluid ounces per day.  Weigh yourself, calculate the amount of water you need, buy a container large enough to store this amount and carry it with you every day.  Carry a smaller bottle to continually refill and before the day is over you will probably find that you have drunk sufficient amounts of high quality water and with every refill you can change the flavor by dropping one drop of your favorite essential oil, maybe add a packet of stevia, or a packet of EmergenC.  Ahhh, drinking water has never been quite so sweet!

A Hebrew Moment
Chet
Is the eighth character o the Hebrew Aleph Bet. Which from a Gregorian calendar perspective makes it appropriate considering the number eight represents new beginnings.  The picture is that of a fence.  A fence is used to protect that which is within it as well as to keep out that which is foreign or undesirable.  Much as a wall was used as a form of protection or first defense against intruders during biblical times.
Chen
Grace
Grace reveals the picture of the fence and the seed (nun).  Seed represents life, continuation hence the seed continues to bring forth life from it. Those who come from a full gospel background may remember a song that has the lyrics, “Jesus, be a fence all around me every day”.  This is a vivid picture of these two characters.  This is revealed in the fence (ark) that Noah had which protected him within it from that which was taking place outside of it.  So now we can have a better understanding of why Noah found grace in the sight of God.  Those of us who are studying our Hebraic roots begin to see the picture of the ark of the Covenant which housed the ten commandments as a picture of our body being the Temple that houses the word of God within us.  Hence, we recognize that keeping the commandments of Yah is the fence that protects the seed. Therefore we can look at the fence as the Torah that protects us (the seed of Abraham).  Bringing even greater meaning to Jesus saying to the Pharisees in John 8 if ye were of Abraham’s seed then you would do what Abraham did.  Abraham by faith kept the word of God because He was a friend of God and by keeping His word he too found grace in the sight of God.  Understanding our body as a fence we can then understand the Psalmist who proclaimed hiding the word (which is the Seed) in our hearts, so that we won’t sin against Him too is a hebrew picture of grace. (Psalm 119:11)
What’s New
Essential Treasures believes in supporting those who are properly aligned to the values they hold.  First, having a love and call to share the Creator with a dying world, and secondly to do so with the moral integrity that our faith requires.  Tropical Traditions is a company that I have aligned myself with for a long period of time.  I have found there prices for the quality of their products to be reasonable and superior.  While there may be others who can out beat their price, they do make it clear on their website what their belief system is and for that I give them an A+ rating.  I have used them for years and have enjoyed their coconut oil, their coconut oil soap, etc… with no complaints.
Coconut oil is an excellent base to add to any essential oils you plan to apply topically or orally.  Containing high amounts of caprylic acid which is great for cognitive function it is an excellent supplement to any diet.  It is also very versatile, it can be used for soap creations, excellent for cooking since unlike Olive oil which is best served cold, it doesn’t become rancid when cooked.  It is also a great moisturizer for your hair providing the needed moisture without heavy grease feel.
Oil of Understanding
Pine
$15.46
Those who enjoy the woodsy and fresh fragrance of Pine Sol would appreciate the fresh and inviting smell of Pine essential oil unadulterated and without chemical solvents added.  Pine also has anti-diabetic qualities.
Its no wonder the original hebrew translation in strongs (H8410) defines pine as enduring.  In Louisiana we only need to look to the left and right of our highways to see that.  However, the pictograph in the Ancient Hebrew paints the picture of “the cross or covenant (tau)door (dalet) reveals or beholds (hey) chief or head (reysh)“.  Beautifully reflecting a future fulfillment of The Chief or Head who would make known or reveal the door to the covenant through the cross.   Indeed centuries past its fulfillment His power endures within His people.  HalleluYAH!!

December 2012                                                                  Volume VII
The great compromise
By: Beloved Bondservant

Discovering the missing link of Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils has been only one part of what I believe is YHWH’s call to Israel to return to Him.  In light of the current meltdown of every world system in which we have put our confidence, many of us have begun seeking for truth.  Time and error has armed the systems that be with appropriate documentation to relieve itself from any responsibility for the consequences of undesirable outcomes.  As a result we as consumers are becoming more aware of our personal responsibility to safeguard our health.  This is a healthy response to the crisis at large; because it is only as we see the existing systems of the world crumble that we will search for the truth.  It is this search for truth that will bring us back to our Heavenly Father.  It is our desire to beat His system that has driven us to Spiritual bewilderment, social catastrophe, and physical devastation.
As a result of this current top-to-bottom meltdown many of us have been convicted to return to a more practical lifestyle.  The insatiable “American Dream” is for all intensive purposes in foreclosure causing many of us to accept that it is indeed better to have a bird in the hand then reach for the two in the bush.  No longer are we striving to compete with the Joneses next door.  The dream is finally over, and the alarm clock is loudly beckoning us to wake up.  We can no longer afford to push the snooze button any more.  It is time to pay the piper, and assume ownership for the outcome of the choices we make.  As more of us become aware of our responsibility to be informed consumers concerning the choices we make, many of us are experiencing a true liberality in this acquisition.  We are finding that conservative living represents true freedom.  It’s becoming more acceptable to be conservative in our spending, conscious of the resources we use, and informed about the impact our wastefulness has on the world around us.  Being conservative in our living allows for us to be liberal in our love for others.
This acceptance of personal accountability has been a wake up call to which there is no snooze button to push.  The time to wake up is now, because our procrastination has dyer consequences for the future generations.  While from the top-to-bottom we have neglected responsibility, the bottom up has paid the ultimate price for any system glitches.  The ultimate price for any undesired results will rest solely on the shoulders of the bottom, even if it was a result of the tops advice.  Our existing system creates a sweet deal for the institutions at the expense of the people.  In any war you must know how to expose your enemies’ vulnerability to your advantage.  In this war the weapon of warfare is information.  The litmus test involved in this endeavor is based on the Source of the information given.  Begging the question, who is the source of your information?  Who determines when time is up for you in the hard cases of health scares?  Who has the final say concerning your talent or ability?  Who decides if you are college material? Who can tell you the outcome of the decisions that you make today?  The irony is with all the government agencies, regulations, and stimulus packages we still suffer as a people from misdiagnoses, medication failures, environmental toxicities, joblessness, and homelessness.
The economic crisis and the healthcare crisis of government insurance to accidental deaths and drug recalls has caused all of us as consumers to question the systems that be.  However, we shouldn’t eject from the plane just yet.  It is necessary that we become disenchanted with the systems that be.  It is essential that we experience the failure of all that we have put our trust in, so that we will return to the only One who is worthy of our trust.  Many people think we are headed for an economic collapse, a government collapse, a military collapse, and a healthcare collapse.  As the scriptures have accurately predicted, men’s hearts are failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are to come.1  The evidence of this is revealed in our own statistics, the number one killer is heart disease.2  It is being reviewed by many analysts and taken more seriously in the science field how our emotional state affects our health.  Yet at the core of this systems malfunction signal that is going off in every strata of our nation is the greatest cause of our demise and it is called a moral collapse.
Next year will be the 40th year anniversary that we, a nation that declares that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, have allowed death to reign through our pro-death policies under the guise of preferential rights.  For those of us who make it out of the greatest war zone in the U.S., the womb, we have an opportunity to go to combat for that right, a voice to speak, a fist to fight, and a finger to pull a trigger if necessary to secure that right.  This right to life was so important to the founders that they even followed up in the Bill of Rights with the second amendment right to arm ourselves against anyone including our own government if such rights should be taken from us.3  The Founders having to fight against their own country to secure their own rights here made sure provision was made in our Constitution to prevent government from becoming a tyranny upon its people.
In the past two decades we have seen what happens to a nation that gives up its rights for security.  We have found truthfully that as Benjamin Franklin stated, “He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither.”4  As Christians if we truly desire to live in the freedom that Yah has provided for us we have to go back to the wilderness.  Learn the lessons again of living a life in obedience to Yah’s written word and spoken word.  Begin prayerfully seeking the Father to show us ways to lead a more simplistic life.  We must change the desires of our heart so that we desire the things He desires for us.
As we look forward to Thanksgiving this year I hope we will truly focus on giving thanks to our Creator.  It is my prayer that we will return to the simplicity that is in Messiah Yahoshua in our lives.5 (2 Cor. 11:3)  Live within our means, and begin valuing the things that our Creator values.  I hope we would begin appreciating the resources He has given us, but distinguishing that from worshipping it.  Recognizing He is the one who gives us all things richly to enjoy.6(1 Tim. 6:17)
As His children it is time for us to return our hearts back to Him, engage in the beautiful relationship He desires to have with us.  Begin recognizing that we don’t have the answer, but rather we know the One who is the Answer to our economic dilemma, healthcare crisis, educational shortfall, and He is the only one able to keep the enemy from crossing our borders.  History reveals to us that although the desire to be one nation under God has been the goal, we have yet to achieve it.  We are further from that reality today then we have ever been.  Amidst all the technological advances, magnificent architectural works of art, Institutions of higher learning, and religious retreats we still find ourselves on the verge of a national breakdown.  Regardless of all the promises from politicians, threats Al Qaeda makes, or good intentions doctors may have only God can correct the mess before us and only our love for Him and one another and His love for us has the power of not failing.
My advice to my readers is to truly evaluate what it is we value.  Yahoshua said, “where your treasure is there will your heart be also.”7  What do your possessions say you value?  Don’t be deceived into believing you value life if your investments are tied up into things that lead to death.
Everything we purchase represents our vote. While many of us want to blame the President, or Congress for the state of affairs we have today, I say the buck stops with us.  We are a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.  We affect change with everything we purchase.  If we don’t like what our nation is serving us, we should stop buying it.
Guarding our most prized possession!
Since everything we want to acquire in this life is subject to and takes place within time it is important that we value it.  We have a limited amount of time to achieve what God put us on earth to accomplish. This is why we should make sure that we are spending time with the Father for direction.  Begin teaching our children the value of time.
What we eat can shorten the amount of time we have.  Every time we choose to eat a donut, or a pork chop we are choosing to limit both the quality and quantity of our life.  What we eat, say, and do reveal whether or not we choose death or life.  Life or death is in the power of the tongue and indeed, they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.8 Think it not strange that the same thing we use to speak with is also the mechanism by which food gets into us.
What is functional living?
Everything stated up to this point was a necessary foundation to get into the meat and potatoes of the plate. How do we live a more functional life?  Since the greatest commodity we have is time, it stands to reason that our lifestyle should take in consideration a means of living that efficiently makes proper use of it.
As I started in this article I told you essential oils were one part of the puzzle.  By incorporating essential oils into our wellness plan we accomplish preserving our time in three distinct ways.
  1)      Flexibility – The versatility of the oils allows you to incorporate a plan that doesn’t limit you to oral supplementation.  Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential oils can be used in various ways including internally.  (As with taking anything please make sure you do your own due diligence in researching, following precautions if any, and adhering to application directions when using.  An EODR (Essential Oils Desk Reference) can be purchased for further instructions on use.)
2)      Potency – While it is impossible to catch up on our sleep, or make up for not drinking the proper amount of water in a day, therapeutic (Grade A) essential oils provide the most promise for catching up on what we are missing.  For instance one drop of peppermint oil is the equivalent of 26 cups of peppermint tea.9
3)      Deterrence – Even with the facts mentioned above the greatest potential of these oils are its ability to attack sickness exactly where we would want to, before it starts.  High potency oils such as the high antioxidant power of clove, the immune stimulating qualities of lemon, the stomach protecting benefits of cinnamon, the respiratory protecting properties of eucalyptus and the liver protecting properties of Rosemary, when thrown together in a synergistic blend known as thieves has proven to be 99.6% effective against airborne bacteria.10

Its potency and accuracy as Yah designed them is skin penetrable and can be used in multiple ways addressing multiple problems simultaneously, which makes it affordable as well.  Having the ability for instance to provide the benefit of 26 cups of tea in 1 drop of peppermint oil with none of the side effects of conventional drugs is an obvious plus to its use.
Why is this important fact a part of functional living?  Do we have a responsibility to teach our kids how to live responsibly by modeling it before them?  Is our current state of crisis a result of not having the values of the Creator taught to us by our parents?  As I have been told and more recently discovered, what we do will have a far greater impact on our children then what we say.  Do we have a responsibility to be successful in our lives?  Not by the lie Hollywood has sold us, or the wealthy have given us, we need only turn on the television to see the fruit that springs forth from money not guided by a value of the Word of Yah.  I would say we have done a great job of training our children well if the goal has been to lead our posterity to extinction.  It’s the way of righteousness we are having a hard time finding, in our, if it feels good do it, eat it, say it, share it society.  Who needs terrorist from without when most of us are being taken out by the friendly fire from within?
How does one teach their posterity about proper values?  Do we teach them to value the life of others by consuming and holding on to things that we don’t use or have any use for?  Do we teach them proper values by wasting time, talent, and treasure on things that have no true value?  While many believe the answer is population control, rather then preventing life could the answer to preserving our environment and resources be more appropriately answered by not consuming or hoarding resources that we don’t use?  Is it possible that if we would not fix a plate of food we can’t finish eating or didn’t consume more calories a day then we need, or didn’t live in extravagant homes that are two thirds empty that we would have enough resources to accommodate people being able to have as many children as they desire?  What if with the resources we have above our need we went to these nations and taught people how to fish rather then merely give them fish?  We must also remember the revelation the Messiah shared with us before He died, “the poor ye shall have always.”11  Nevertheless, even those who don’t desire to come out of the impoverished state that they find themselves in have a right to live the life they have, knowing the greatest testament to humanity is at any moment the light bulb can go off inside them and they can change. For many of us were lost and then found, poor in spirit and then revived.
Functional living requires guidance by the Word of God both written and spoken, and in our willingness to obey, character is developed.  Do we bless our children as Yah blessed His Son?  When Yahoshua was baptized His father blessed Him, how many of our young men and women would be better off if they received a blessing from their father?    How many of us would be more secure if we received one?
We are such a wasteful nation.  We waste space in a house like we waste food on our plates.  We are conditioned to believe it is efficient to have a room called a “living room” that functions as a mausoleum.  While the bible tells us, “He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.”12 Those who are sold out on saving the planet have this one thing correct; they are right about how we waste resources.  The motivation behind our respect for the universe comes from two different places.  Yet, I will say this, God doesn’t make mistakes I cannot fathom God producing more people on earth then the earth could accommodate.  The argument so many who desire to control the population base their premise on is a shortage of resources, when based on how we live alone in the West it would be more accurate to say it is not a shortage of resources that is the problem but rather an abuse of our resources.  When ever we eat more then we need, use more energy, more water, or buy more clothes then we can wear, we are inadvertently taking from someone else.
Technology has afforded us the ability to ship items from here to anywhere in the world that someone in need can have.  However, our greed and our abuse of the resources we have been blessed with is the issue, not that there is not space to accommodate the needs of the downtrodden.  I have been convicted this month about so many things that we have that we don’t use.  Many of those things haven’t been used for years and the space that we have that could be used for a more beneficial purpose has only become a place of storage.  Making both the things we have and the space we have it in unusable.  It has got me to thinking about not only the responsibility we have to our family which I discussed earlier, but what responsibility we have concerning the resources Yah has given us.
I encourage you if you have wasted space in your home to consider the responsibility you have before you concerning what you are doing with what you got.  Did Yah provide us with abundance so that we could waste the resources He has blessed us with or has He called us to be responsible stewards over the wealth we have?  As passionate as I am against abortion, this month this functional living idea has caused me to really evaluate things differently.  To look at where I bear some responsibility for the state we are in.  Many women who get abortions do so because of the economic weight a baby brings upon them.
God called us (the church) to be the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath.13  He has fulfilled His end of the deal, but have we?  In the midst of the economic crisis we face, we have not lacked food in our refrigerator, clothes on our backs, or an income to accomplish anything we choose.  On a national level consider this, one of the issues we have a problem with as Christians in this nation is with welfare.  Yet, welfare became an answer to the economic crisis and taken out of the hands of the church because quite frankly we were not applying it to the needs of our area.  We have taken the funds that were intended to bless God’s people and invested it in things rather then people.  Our greed has prevented us from becoming the kinsmen redeemer we were called to be.
So this is how the trickle down effect works,
  1) On a personal level – for every room I don’t or can’t use
            2) I waste needed space that can be used to house the poor, provide teaching to the ignorant
                        3) I waste resources because all the space will be heated and air conditioned whether it is used or not.  I waste time because I will need to clean it,
                                    4) The resources I waste means less time to seek Yah four counsel, start a business, help the poor, instead I will have to spend it caring for that portion of the house that is not producing anything, but generating a lot of work.  Thus my resources work against me rather than for me.
We are supposed to have answers that work not just within the pages of scripture, but in the pages of our lives.  Since sickness and disease was not so for the believer, the blessings listed in scripture for the believer didn’t focus on health care because if we applied the principles of the word of God we would walk in divine health.  We likewise were expected to provide for the strangers and poor who were among us, which implies that, we would have the resources to give to those in need.  Functional living would allow for us to share space with others, live a life not just within our means, but in a way that is adequately more functional to helping us fulfill our purpose.  Consider the time, talent, and treasure we would harness if we built our lives based on what we needed to fulfill God’s purpose?
Functional living is based on harnessing your resources based on how you live.  Consider how the choices you make today to live beyond your need will impact the future?  How important is it for us to be good stewards of the resources the Father has blessed us with?  How important it is for our posterity?  Functional living focuses on freeing up resources to be a blessing, and trusting that YAH will bless our faithfulness.
Functional living allows us the time, provides the contentment that comes from exiting ourselves out of the rat race, the comparison game, and the self-indulging life that many of us have been handed down, and makes it possible for us to focus on what really matters in life.  It makes time for caring for people rather then the buildings they vacate.  Learn valuable skills that can help our children survive when we aren’t around, and show them how to value the gift of Yah that is within them.    We are so busy cursing our kids with worldly things that we don’t have time to bless them with the Word of God.  Functional living allows you to prioritize your time based on those things that should be a priority in your life.
How many of us would have spent more time with our children if we didn’t have to work overtime to pay for the things we have acquired? Whether an expensive house, repairs on an old one, etc…  It’s the way we live life that makes it difficult to accommodate growth.  Our misunderstanding of the purpose of wealth is the cause of poverty.
How is a country in debt going to help another country in debt?  Sounds to me like the blind leading the blind, in which the end result is they both fall into a ditch.  Having proper priorities are going to be essential to true sustainability.  Not sustainability for its own sake, but sustainability as it relates to learning in this life how to live in the Kingdom of God.  You’d better believe when Yah rules things are going to be fair, just, and some of the principles of communism that we don’t like will be instituted because Yah cares about community, while some of the principles of free enterprise will be instituted because our position in Him will be based on every man’s work.  Those who obeyed Him more faithfully will be given more then those who obeyed Him least faithfully.14  The awesome part is the riches you didn’t acquire is not what determines your prize it is what you did with the riches He did give you that determines your prize.  Functional living teaches us how to connect with the Creator,  prioritize wealth, and love all that He has created.   For these reasons we should strive to be conservative with our spending, and liberal with our love for Yah and one another.
1 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.  (Luk 21:26)
5 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
(2Co 11:3)
6 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
(1Ti 6:17)
7 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
(Mat 6:21)
8 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
(Deu 28:13)
14Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Read Your Labels

Modal
Have you found yourself having rashes in private places? Have you noticed itching, redness, or irritation? While it could be a yeast infection or some other disease, or if you have had it checked out and your doctor can’t figure out what it is, check your closet? Have you purchased a new pair of pants? Purchased new bedding or bought a new blouse?  While modal is being labeled the “wonder” fabric, your skin might react back as to wondering what is in it.  This fabric is gaining popularity over its cotton counterpart because it is less likely to shrink when washed and its softness to the touch.  Nevertheless, might I suggest that you not get rid of your vintage 100% cotton just yet.  Modal created in Austria is made strictly from beechwood – but is considered bio-based rather than natural because, though the raw materials used to make it are natural, they are heavily processed with a variety of toxic chemicals, including formaldehyde when manufactured in some countries of origin.1
Modal is used alone or with other fibers (often cotton or spandex) in household items such as towels, bathrobes, underwear and bedsheets.2 So why buy it?  Here are the listed advantages:
Like rayon, it is soft, smooth and breathes well
Its texture is similar to cotton or silk
Its cool and very absorbent
Like cotton, it dyes easily and becomes color-fast
Its resistant to shrinkage
Less likely to fade or pill as a result of friction
Stays softer in hard water laundering
Drapes well and keeps its shape

Here are the reported allergic Responses:

They are many. The following list is not complete but will give you an idea of what to watch for if sudden symptoms develop after wearing or being exposed to Modal.
Skin reactions (itching, blisters, hives, welts, etc.)
Headache accompanied with brain-fog
Swollen glands
Widespread muscle aches (not previously experienced)
Widespread muscle aches (previously existing such in fibromyalgia patients)
Disorientation
Respiratory symptoms (bronchitis, asthma-like symptoms, etc.) Sinus infections
I don’t know if you check the internet often but you may find that your vintage clothing may turn out to be a wall street winner in the future as many people begin to find that all these new scientific innovations have their drawbacks. Of course the word of God clearly identifies the defilement involved when we combine unholy mixtures through intermingling fabrics.3
It is important to remember that the allergy is not due to the natural products used to make the product, but rather in the toxic chemicals used to combine the material, usually spandex, rayon, etc.. with cotton. While the ingredients are derived from a natural source, there is a chemical process they undergo to become the soft fabric that you wear on your body. I know some people may think I am going overboard with a lot of this, and may be thinking right about now, oh no, you mean its not just what I eat or the make up I wear, or the soda I drink, but even the clothes I wear? That’s right. I always thought it a strange thing anyway when I began to see “organic” cotton. Since when has it been necessary to state that the cotton used to produce a product was organic? Since the biotech ‘geniuses’ and I use that term loosely decided they could improve on God’s design by producing their man made engineered cotton and chose to pedal it as if it was the same as the original. The reason they have to say organic is because it is no longer organic, but rather a concoction produced from the laboratory of Monsanto, Bayer, or the like.  Bottom line is its better to stick with the natural.

The fabric Yah made not only is healthier for your skin but has been found to be beneficial in other ways as well.  According to MV Style natural fibers have the following benefits:4

Organic Cotton
  • The arrangement of the cellulose gives cotton a good degree of strength, durability, and absorbency.
  • Unlike synthetics, it doesn’t pill, emit static electricity, prematurely age, or trap perspiration.
  • People with allergies and chemical sensitivity especially benefit because conventional cotton may retain harmful toxic residues.
Linen (Flax)

Linen is a material made from the fibers of the flax plant. We believe that no other type of material can be more comfortable and more satisfying than linen, for several reasons:

  • Highly absorbent – Can absorb and lose water rapidly, quickly removing perspiration from the skin.
  • Good conductor of heat – In winter it keeps the heat in; in summer it feels cool to the touch and creates a feeling of coolness and comfort.
  • Easy care for the long-term – Resists dirt and stains, has no lint or pilling tendency, and can be dry cleaned, machine washed or steamed. Withstands high temperatures and yields minimal initial shrinkage. Gets softer the more it is washed, and doesn’t fade.
  • Strongest of the vegetable fibers – Has 2 to 3 times the strength of cotton, enduring up to 20 years of use.
  • Unique antibacterial qualities – Linen contains natural antiseptic that prevents bacterial growth. Helps kill microbes, thereby preventing fungal diseases, inflammation, and damaged skin infection.
  • Environmental filter – To some point protects from a chemically aggressive environment, noise, dust, radiation, gamma rays, and electromagnetic waves.
  • Strongest energy of all fibers – Creates a feeling of calm, concentration and depth of thought. Psychotherapists agree that linen fibers have an ability to protect a person from depression, nervous and psychotic breakdowns.
Silk
  • The most hypoallergenic of all fabrics because of its natural protein structure.
  • An all-climate fabric, silk is warm and cozy in winter, without being bulky underneath, and comfortably cool in warmer temps. Highly absorbent: it can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, so it absorbs perspiration while letting your skin breathe.
  • Relatively robust and strong – Its smooth surface resists soil and odors well; is wrinkle and tear resistant, and dries quickly. It easily competes with steel yarn in tensile strength.
  • Takes color well; washes easily; and is easy to work with in spinning, weaving, knitting, and sewing. Mixes well with other animal and vegetable fibers.
Wool

The utility of the fiber itself is evident in cold-weather and high-performance applications, offering:

  • Superior breathability
  • Temperature regulation
  • Inherent antimicrobial properties

A Hebrew Moment
Vav
Resembling the picture of a peg this sixth letter of the Hebrew Alephbet has the concrete meaning of peg and the abstract meaning to add or secure.  Unless added to the front of a Hebrew word in which this letter means and. The numeric value for this character is six.  This beautiful character points to how through the piercing of the Messiah with a nail on a tree we were joined together even as a nail joins together two objects.  It also speaks of how the Messiah secured eternity for us with His blood on that cross.
Ka-vah
To Bind Together
Written in proper Hebrew order the characters above represent the actual character order in the picture from right to left, while the letters below it represent the English order of the Hebrew alephbet.  I chose this word because it so eloquently reveals the picture of what our Savior did for us.  The letter means to cycle, revolve, or make a revolution.  The other two characters we have already discussed their meanings.  When you bring the pictures together its abstract meaning is “to bind together” while its concrete meaning is “what comes after the nail”.  Because what connects us as family is based on what happened after the nails were pierced into the hands and feet of our Savior.

Renaissance Ronin

Usually I provide a quote to grow on, but in light of the topic this month I thought it would be better to provide some resources that provide some practical food for thought concerning living off the grid.  Our current lifestyle is more maintenance then God required us to deal with.  We are not learning the lesson that to whom much is given much is required fast enough.  Rennaisance Ronin website is a very practical website that helps you realistically discover what is doable on a budget and that one can practically do themselves.  Indeed be advised in order to make alternative living options work for you especially on an affordable budget you will have to begin using your own hands to make it affordable.  However, the richness involved in learning how to fish for yourself is its own reward and by making it a family project you train your kids how to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Functional Living

God called us (the church) to be the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath.1He has fulfilled His end of the deal, but have we?

(2Co 11:3)

6 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
(1Ti 6:17)

7 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
(Mat 6:21)

8 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

A turtleneck made with modal fabric.

  • Like rayon, it is soft, smooth and breathes well
  • Its texture is similar to cotton or silk
  • Its cool and very absorbent
  • Like cotton, it dyes easily and becomes color-fast
  • Its resistant to shrinkage
  • Less likely to fade or pill as a result of friction
  • Stays softer in hard water laundering
  • Drapes well and keeps its shape

Here are the reported allergic Responses:

They are many. The following list is not complete but will give you an idea of what to watch for if sudden symptoms develop after wearing or being exposed to Modal.
  • Skin reactions (itching, blisters, hives, welts, etc.)
  • Headache accompanied with brain-fog
  • Swollen glands
  • Widespread muscle aches (not previously experienced)
  • Widespread muscle aches (previously existing such in fibromyalgia patients)
  • Disorientation
  • Respiratory symptoms (bronchitis, asthma-like symptoms, etc.)
  • Sinus infections

3 Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together. Deut. 22:11

October 2012                                                                       Volume V
The Underground
Built on the Principles of Living a Simple Life in Christ Jesus (Messiah Yahoshua)
There is a major shift taking place in our nation today. A shift of a nation that prospered because of its embracing of the Most High is now experiencing the aftermath of change, just as our current President has promised and delivered.  Whether or not it is for the better remains to be seen, yet I don’t want you to think that I am politically for or against the current administration because quite frankly I believe the writing is already on the wall for America.  I am not so much for change as I am for returning.  Returning back to the biblical roots that have been eloquently written in the founding and governing documents of our nation, with only one significant difference, I desire to see it actualized, not just publicized.  While the founding fathers of America had great intent I firmly believe and history bears it out that we have yet to find a time when the rights granted to all citizens have yet to be given to all citizens of this nation.  While we teeter either to the liberal left or the conservative right there appears to never be a sustainable balance implemented in the actual walking out of these principles.  Which brings me to this month’s topic, I think we need to re-equip ourselves with the freedom movement that Harriett Tubman, Martin L. King, and even earlier Moses instituted.
What do all three of these figures have in common?  They were leaders of a people who were politically, physically, and economically oppressed by the existing infrastructure of their day.  Moses chose to suffer with the children of God rather than to enjoy sin for a season.1  All three miraculously by the providential hand of God delivered their people from the bondage of Egypt, only to sadly after their demise have the Egypt that was in them bring them back into the state to which they were set free.
Just as in Egypt we have turned our back on our God, and as a result we are experiencing the advent of the Pharaoh who makes no claim of knowing Joseph.2 Joseph represents a time of plenty for Egypt.  Egypt was world renown for its abundance during a time of lack.  The claim to Egypt’s worldwide fame came only as a result of Joseph’s ability to interpret a dream that God had given the Pharaoh of that day.  This scoop put Egypt on the map as the only nation at the time capable of stomping out world hunger.  Howbeit, a nation that had experienced such a mighty deliverance could so swiftly change its direction?   We are currently seeing such a shift take place before our very eyes within the walls of our country.  We are seeing our homeland more and more turning its back on the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and concurrent with that experiencing the plagues that come as a result of that decision.  No one has the answer to the dilemma because everyone who chooses to address the issue from a natural standpoint ignores the only answer to the issue.  Returning back to the Creator who made us powerful to begin with is the only answer to the current crisis we face.
If it ain’t broke why fix it?
In our attempt to accommodate every culture that desires to embrace the “American Dream” we have lost the essential ingredient that is key to our success.  Trying so hard to adapt others ideology we have twisted and perverted the foundation upon which we are built.  That very foundation that even in the face of the injustice and ambiguity that misrepresented our founding documents true intent has been able to in latter times be relied upon to rightfully free a people who were wrongfully enslaved.  The current flaw in our present ideology is a fundamental misunderstanding of what led to the injustices that were unduly placed on a large segment of America’s citizenry.  The clear and obvious declaration of our founding fathers was built on correct premises that were encapsulated in the word of God.  There is no doubt in my mind that they were inspired by God to put the words to the Declaration of Independence together.  The meticulous and carefully penned words were rooted and grounded on biblical principles found within a Judeo-Christian ethic.  No one should be allowed to become a citizen of this nation if they are unwilling to embrace the truth of the God that we declared allegiance to.
Even in Israel strangers were allowed to come into the land that was provided to them by Yah, but with the strict understanding that they were to abide by the same rules that governed Israel.  They were subject to the God of the land.  However, because the children of God didn’t holdfast themselves to the truth they subsequently begin to be taken over by their enemy.  Their inability to recognize the enemy became their downfall in survival.  Scripture makes it clear that we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but don’t get it twisted, we do wrestle with principalities in high places and doctrines of demons.3
The Backstabbers!
Don’t mistake a smiling face with a friend, as the song goes ‘they smile in your face, but all along they want to take your place, the backstabbers’.  Because we have not taught our children what made America great we have a nation who falsely believes that this melting pot of confusion is the cause of our triumph, when the truth is it is our Judeo-Christian roots that set us apart from other nations and made us great.  The moment we begin moving further away from it, we as Adam dying we have surely died.4 Time has proven to be the greatest teacher to that fact.
Today, we still have people who want to point fingers at Clinton, Bush, Obama and other presidents for the mess we are in, but truth be told we would be more accurate if we would point our finger at the men and women who we see every morning.  The President doesn’t make our nation, the congress doesn’t make our nation, we the people make choices, which determine the direction of our nation.  We greatly error if we blame those who run for President for the problems we face, when we are the ones who empower them with our vote.  Rather than choosing a man after God’s own heart we choose a man after our own heart and ask God to bless it.  It’s the equivalent of praying for Satan to return to God, it’s a futile prayer that won’t come to pass.  The simple fact of the matter is our values have changed, rather than trusting God as our provider we have put our trust in the mighty dollar, in the wonder drug’s, doctors, politicians, and governing system.  To remove, disdain, or set God aside as our Provider and replace Him with anything else is to remove our allegiance and reliance upon YHWH.  That act is diabolically an offence that can be defined as nothing less than mutiny.  The same people who would pose the argument that the writings of our forefathers are outdated and no longer apply to our new advanced society are experiencing firsthand the truth that without the blessing of God NOTHING we do will work!  Hence, we find ourselves becoming like the impoverished nations that used to look to us as the land of promise.  Similarly, the church itself is discovering that the laws of the Old Testament bible do still apply and our ignorance of it has caused us to be subject to the same diseases, and financial problems that everyone else faces.  We have made the same mistake the succeeding generation of the children of Israel who entered the promise land made.  We forgot the consequences that were promised to us if we didn’t keep His commandments. In Deuteronomy 30, he informs them through the profit Moses that the law He gave them was two fold, blessing if you keep His commandments, and cursing if you disobey them.5 The promises of life and blessing only apply to those who keep covenant with God, if we don’t keep covenant with Him the promises of death are before us.  When we disobey God’s commandment we subject ourselves to the same curses that were on Egypt.6 It is always important to identify the conditions God gives to the blessings on His people.  God has called us to be His peculiar treasure and royal priesthood, and it is our obedience to His voice that determines if we are His.7 Our greatness as a nation can only occur as we obey His voice, even as the founding fathers obeyed His voice in what they wrote.  It is our obedience to His voice that makes us great, the same principles of sovereignty which makes us a peculiar people. This is revealed in our declaration that man doesn’t give rights, but God gives rights.  We have set ourselves apart as a nation that will defend every citizen’s God-given right to religion, speech, gun ownership, reaching as far as life itself.
Egypt too during the time of Joseph was looked up to as the land of promise, they years later would find themselves with leadership that declared the biggest lie until now, that he knew not the God of Joseph that put Egypt on the map.  They would not shortly after discover and know quite well who the God of Joseph was.  Egypt first receives world recognition as the land that saved the world from starvation, only to in its demise find itself once again on the world map for experiencing the wrath of the Almighty for its enslavement of His people.
Getting us out of Egypt is not nearly as hard as getting Egypt out of us.
Yet what destroyed the children of Israel was the love affair that they had with the lifestyle of Egypt.  An inability to see the big picture through the small pixels caused those who left Egypt to die before fulfilling their purpose.  History reveals to us that all of those who underwent enslavement had to go through a wilderness experience before they entered into a promise land, and like the children of Israel of old many of those who came out would not with their own eyes see the full picture, but would rather have to experience it through the succeeding generation.  Our current form of slavery is found within the indoctrination methods we see taking place all over the nation.  This is best seen in the cities where the pressure to conform to images have caused many to pierce themselves with many sorrows living in a lifestyle that enslaves them to Egypt.   We, like the children of Israel find ourselves trying to fit in when God has called us to be a peculiar treasure not a willing clone. Rather than being the light that shines in darkness, we have chosen to dim our lights to blend in, and as a result we find ourselves in a land that has an abundance of technological savvy, a plethora of resources, and indeed as scripture has revealed knowledge that has increased and goes to and fro yet for all practical purposes we are impoverished, and exposed.8  Like Samson we keep shaking ourselves thinking we have the glory we once had, but the truth is our strength has been cut and no amount of shaking can pull us out from underneath the judgment that is sure to come.  What is saddest is that in this state when we are clearly weak and vulnerable we honestly believe that we are stronger and better.  Distorted messages from our officials would cause you to believe things are getting better, yet in the same breath you hear we are trillions of dollars in debt with no climb out.

Nevertheless, there is a way out for those who are willing to leave.  Leave behind the stinking thinking that has put us in this position.  A systemic return to the wisdom of scripture is taking place from a grassroots level.  A silent revolution is taking the nation by storm as many Church spectators begin to become mantle carriers.  As they begin to question what they have been fed and hold it up to the light of the truth of the word of Yah they are discovering all that is called God is not God, just as not all those who claim to serve Jesus is.  We have been sold a pack of goods, as Malcolm X would say we have been run amuck, and led astray.  We are robbing our seed of the true riches of life in an effort to reach for the brass ring.  Teaching them to value their desires instead of the things they need.  So now we train them to value things that depreciate the minute you buy them, and to devalue things that appreciate with time.  We no longer share wisdom with them at the dinner table concerning the true virtues of life in Messiah.  Instead we place them in front of a television that tares down the very faith we hold dear.  Indeed, the greatest challenge we face is still the same, getting out of Egypt is not nearly as hard as getting Egypt out of us.
The world owes me something mentality is not something new to the youth of today, it is only a mere shadow of what we see in the wilderness experience that our forefathers endured after leaving Egypt.  We read the constant demands of a people who were set free from bondage now questioning the provision and the motives of the very Helper who rescued them.  The ungrateful and demanding demeanor they had as if the Creator was to blame for their hardships in Egypt.  The constant complaining and grumbling with faithless jibber about the food they ate or whether or not His intentions were to kill them in the wilderness.  This mindset is nothing new, even during slavery you had those slaves who were devoted to the very master who raped their mother, and separated them from their father.  They would betray their own family if they attempted to leave the plantation because they themselves had misguided loyalty to people who didn’t love them as their own, but rather as their property.  These are the very people who complained when brought out of Egypt concerning the leeks and melons they ate, lusting after the lifestyle they had because they were so caught up in the convenience of Egypt that they didn’t even recognize what they had to give up for it.
I remember reading about Harriet Tubman and how she was liken to Moses in her determination to help bring slaves to freedom.  I recall the movies that revealed how even under harsh bondage that some of the slaves who suffered refused to leave to experience freedom.  The familiarity of the known, even when enslaved, for many is more desirable then the hope of freedom if it means going through the unknown to get there.  Like the days of Noah, Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, Yahoshua, Paul, Harriet Tubman, Martin L. King, Malcolm X, and many others we are hearing the ever so clear calls from the other side of the wilderness where the promise land is to come out of our system of thinking.  To put wings to our faith and put trust in our God; to begin valuing the things that He value, and not the things of this world.9 I know many would have problems with me adding Malcolm X, to these list of clear believers, but God is not limited in whom He can use to free His people.  Yahoshua was sent to His own, yet many of those who were not of His own experienced the benefits and blessings of His ministry.  They walked by faith trusting in the living Torah even when they didn’t have, keep, or walk according to the written Torah!  Remember, a woman caught in the act of adultery was delivered, a Centurion’s request for healing for a soldier was delivered, a Samaritan woman who although expressed some common ancestry through Jacob had faith in a bible that was tainted with added commandments, yet Yahoshua who even by his own people’s reckoning shouldn’t have any dealings with her spoke to her.  She was blessed with the opportunity to be one of the first women in scripture recorded to preach the Gospel to her people.  All I am saying is God can use whomever He chooses to get a clear message to His people.  Many of the teachings of Martin L. King came from a nonbeliever Mahatma Ghandi, yet none of us would question M.L. King’s faith.  Remember Egypt is a type of bondage, and there are some religious Egyptian forms of thinking we need to let go of too. Don’t misunderstand I am not an advocate for the ecumenical movement in which all faith’s and any road can lead to heaven.  It is very clear that Jesus (Yahoshua) is the only way to the father, this rules out any other substitute.10  I am under no delusion that another Jesus will return, but rather the one and only who came the first time and died for us will return again for us.  Nevertheless, the opposition that the Messiah endured through the religious Egyptian system that operated from His own people, or at least those who claimed to be His (of Abraham’s seed), is still in operation today.  Representing those who would like to put parameters around God that He didn’t set; who take and twist the scriptures to fit their own theology.  As the bible put it, false prophets who dress in sheep’s clothing but inside are ravening wolves.11   The greatest opposition to the children of Israel is not the Pharaoh’s from without, but the wolves that are within.  The children of Israel subjected themselves to Pharaoh under the guise of prosperity, those who looked to God for their prosperity didn’t suffer such bondages.
Who do we look to for our prosperity? Is it government stimulus packages and bailouts that we rely on or do we rely on Yah?  Are we more concerned with building our own kingdom or His?  Are we distracted by racial, religious, or political issues that seek to emphasize our differences or focusing on the central and most vital common link and need that we all have, which is a need for the Savior.  See, I may not agree with your political views, I may not agree with your cultural assessments, nor embrace your religious beliefs, but there is one thing that we do have in common and that is we all have sinned and fallen short of His glory and are in desperate need of a Savior.  How much of my life and my words express that truth?  Point people to God and His ways? Teach them how to live a sustainable life in Him?  Side issues keep us in bondage, salvation delivers us from it.
Salvation comes when we put our trust in the right and precise ark of safety.  Noah, Moses, and King David were given a clear pattern for building the ark of safety.  They were not given liberty or creative license to altar in any aspect the plan laid out by the Almighty.  This brings me to another crucial point; there is always a physical component to the spiritual application. God gives us a natural assignment to express our Spiritual faith.  We cannot have one without the other.  Noah wasn’t instructed to just except that God was going to destroy the earth and start over with him, but he was given instructions in which his obedience to those instructions would secure his salvation.  Faith produces work.  Faith is the seed, while work is the fruit from the seed.  If we understand that principle we understand that if we have the faith of a mustard seed we will produce fruit from that seed.  Our lack of faith will produce a lack of fruit. My belief that God will provide fruit is what would cause me to water my seed, to fertilize it, to plant it in an area that it would get the optimum amount of sun.  If I lack faith, I lack action behind it.
This brings me to the Underground Railroad that we see in the life of Harriet Tubman.  She made optimum use of the resources she was given to bring deliverance to people.  How many of us just want stuff, in which we have no practical use or need for it?  Example, a house is a form of shelter which is a valid need, but you can’t tell me a five bedroom house is a necessity for a household of three; especially if there is no plan to have more kids, or at the expense of more kids.  The irony is we will put off or avoid having kids so that we can afford a house that we have no intentions of filling?  This is what I believe Ezekiel is speaking of in chapter 16 concerning the sin of Sodom:12
1) pride,
2) fullness of bread,
3) abundance of idleness, that didn’t apply to just her, but her children as well,
4) and didn’t strengthen the hand of the poor or the needy.
5) High Minded (Haughty)
Sounds familiar?  This could be the American Creed, and the icing on the cake we just put into place a few months ago, committing abominations.  Sanctioning gay marriage is a direct attack on the image of God as revealed throughout scripture from old and new as the union between husband and wife.  We are now in the throws of seeing what happens when the cup of iniquity becomes full.  When a nation throws off all levels of restraint, and the only safe haven of recourse believers have in the wake of this is to throw off the covering of Egypt and run into the ark of Messiah.  Our greatest vote and chance of becoming instrumental in making any sort of effectual change will only occur as we distance ourselves from the current system by living the changes we need to see.  Removing these tentacles requires us to get out of debt to Egypt, separate ourselves from the activities of Egypt, return to the tried and tested benefits of living by the Word of God as our forefathers taught, is going to be essential to our survival and our effectiveness in ministering to others.
The Bride of Messiah or the Harlot on the Beast
So now we must ask ourselves which one will we be, the bride of Messiah or the harlot on the beast? There is a struggle that goes on within us having been accustomed to the lifestyle of Egypt that is not easy to separate from.  I too find myself comforted by its conveniences and easily swept away in its promises.  However, we must remember the harlot is a deceiver, her faithfulness to you is temporal and there is no loyalty within her arms.  She is self-serving and life draining.  When she is done with you what she leaves behind is death, and your children’s inheritance will be the same.  She doesn’t just destroy the individual, but she destroys your family.  There is no end to her desire, so once you feed her it’s like putting water in a barrel with a hole at the bottom, it never gets full, and the more you feed it the more problems it creates, until it eventually carries you away.
On the contrary the bride of Messiah is a faithful woman. Her needs are met and she is content with her husband’s provision.  His love for her is revealed in his nurturing words, and He fills her with revelations of her purpose.  He protects, provides, and shields her from all enemies.  He heals her wounds, listens to her cries, and treasures her body as His own.  She finds joy in the presence of her Husband, and her Husband finds pleasure in her.
In this hour there is an underground place of refuge for the people of God.  And as it was during the time of Harriet Tubman those who want to achieve freedom will have to pay the price for it.  They will have to recognize that they are in bondage in their current life and as a result be willing to leave it behind if they are to enter into the promise land.  On this journey we will have to simplify our lives.  This means leaving a lot of things behind, carrying only that which is absolutely necessary because anything more are weights.  We must value true assets, which are those things that will last, and be useful in serving the kingdom of Yah.  Remember, the things God value are not the things the world value.  The world elevates careers, and fame, and the abundance of things, where God values life, something the world will sacrifice to have the former. Appreciate frugality, learning how to be resourceful, no longer being wasteful, and most important developing a discerning ear.  This year as I prepare for the feast of Trumpets I am reminded of the importance of being able to discern sounds of deliverance.  How instrumental it was in alerting the children of Israel when danger was imminent.  I can only imagine how important that was during the time of Harriet Tubman to securing safe passage to freedom.  Not discerning the signals that were used could easily lead some to danger rather than safety.  More than ever we need to make sure we know the sound of our Savior.  In fact the Messiah said those who are His know His voice and a stranger they will not follow.13  Make sure when the freedom bell rings that you are on the train, and if you are, then I will see you on the other side.
Your Underground Servant,
Beloved Bondservant
1By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
(Heb 11:24-26)
2 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
(Exo 1:8)
3 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph 6:12)
4 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
(Gen 2:17)
5 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
(Deu 30:19-20)
6 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
(Exo 15:26)
7Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
(Exo 19:5-6)
8But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
(Dan 12:4)
9 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1Jn 2:15-17)
10 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Joh 14:6)
11 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Mat 7:15)
12Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. (Eze 16:49-50)
13 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. (Joh 10:4-5)
A Hebrew Moment
Hey
The 5th letter in the Hebrew Alephbet is “hey” and its picture clearly reveals its meaning.  When we raise our arms in praise we are beholding His majesty, marveling at His handiwork, and the view as we look up is breathtaking.  The words I underlined are done so because the Hebrew character for this word means to “look”, “behold”, “see”, or “sigh” It is also used as a prefix for words to stand for “the”.  Just as in a sentence “the” points to or reveals something important.
Hadas
Last month we covered the character “dalet” which is the middle character represented.  The last character in this word in Hebrew is pronounced “samech”.  This word means “shield, thorn, pierce, sharp”.
This word means Myrtle, and the reason I chose it is because it bears the same name as this month’s oil of understanding as well as a biblical heroine by the Persian name of Esther. Much like we have been taught the Greek name for our Messiah who would have been called by the Hebrew name Yahoshua this word has a hidden and mysterious wisdom behind it. Whether you search it out in a Strongs or Browns Driver Briggs it is said to be derived from uncertain origin.  Like the Queen Esther who was put in power as a Persian Queen, but was born a beautiful Hebrew woman, she like the church (body of Christ) is hidden within the world.  We know that not all that are called His are His.  But he tells us we will know a tree by its fruit.  The Myrtle tree like the woman who is named after it has many healing benefits.

Just got mines a few days ago.  Saving not only money on service but also on the phone.  Got this seller refurbished phone for under $60.00.  Having many of the same features of the popular iphone for a small fraction of the price.  So far I am quite happy with my phone.  Having had to deal with touch screen features on my PDA’s I never liked phones that limited you to only using touchscreen for communication.  The Motorola Droid didn’t let me down having the ability to use a fully functional easy to read, and large in size keyboard for fast communication and versatile usage in viewing full or wide screen LCD capacity.  Don’t know how long I will be able to get this phone at this price, but if you are ready to upgrade consider checking the reviews on the Motorola Droid A855 and if you are ready to upgrade this month I may be able to get you a phone for between $60.00 – $80.00 and we can get you switched over to Page Plus Cellular today.  Remember transfer or activate with me for a one time fee of $10.00 and enjoy a month to month plan of only $39.95 a month for unlimited services.  If you don’t need that much talk time get 1200 minutes for only $29.95 a month.
Oil of understanding
Myrtle
15 mL bottle
$35.20
Named after one of the bravest women of the bible, Esther, born Hadassah (Myrtle).  This hidden treasure like the woman who bares its name has many benefits for women.  Interesting to note branches from this tree was one among a select few used in building Sukkot’s (Temporary dwelling places the children of Israel were commanded to build once a year for the Feast of Tabernacles – Lev. 23).  This oil can be used for balancing your hormones, fighting urinary tract infections, Bronchitis, Prostate problems, Asthma, Thyroid problems, Sinusitis, and infections.  Could you imagine the benefit this would have to those who would be breathing in this beautiful fragrance as they slept or ate underneath these sukkot’s year after year?  How those who normally might have had problems breathing outside might be at perfect peace under such branches.  Remember it is the leaf of the tree that houses the essential oil of the plant that when broken releases its fragrance.  This sweet smelling fragrance is both healthful and beneficial to those who take in its pleasant fragrance.  I encourage you to buy your own and add to your supplemental collection.  Young Living Therapeutic Grade Myrtle oil can be used topically on location, diffused or put in humidifier, or taken internally as a dietary supplement.
This product is also available in the Young Living Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture Kit!

Propylene Glycol
Propylene Glycol is found in many different personal care products.  It is used as a penetration enhancer that stabilizes products by keeping them from heating up and/or freezing during temperature variation.  It can be readily found in the following products:
·        Shampoo
·        Conditioner
·        Soap
·        Acne treatment
·        Moisturizer
·        Toothpaste
·        Deodorant
·        Nail polish
·        Mascara
·        Ice cream
There are over 1,041 products that use this substance.
What should be most concerning to you as a consumer is the fact that this substance not only has the ability itself to reach the bloodstream, but it is an enhancer which means that it can help carry other foreign substances with it to your bloodstream.  Having that knowledge only leaves one obviously important question, which is, is it safe?
According to The Environmental Working Group, there are a host of problems that can be caused by this substance.  It has been linked to Cancer, developmental/reproductive issues, allergies/immunotoxicity, neurotoxicity, and endocrine disruption.  While this represents the most severe damage this substance can do on the lower end it can provoke skin irritation and sensitization in humans by 2% concentration.  You’d be happy to know that the industry review panel recommends cosmetics can contain up to 50% of the substance.  Always be advised the items that appear first in the list of ingredients represent the substance that is in most abundance in your product;  which means be especially careful if you find propylene glycol in the top 3 ingredients.
Staying away from this harmful substance however won’t be as easy as it seems.  Creative marketers have learned to dodge the health savvy consumer by using alias, or synonymous names.  However, this information can be easily found by researching it online.  Here are a few other names that may appear in the ingredients list for propylene glycol: 1,2-dihydroxypropane, 1,2-propanediol, methyl glycol, and trimethyl glycol.  My rule of thumb is simply this, if I can’t pronounce it, or if there are numbers and hyphens connected with it then I probably need to leave it on the shelf.  Anything too complicated to pronounce is probably not meant to be put in or on my body.  Your ingredient list should be kept simple if it is safe.

Celebrate Aging

We are living in a time when people are willing to torture themselves to continue to look an age that has long since past.  Rather than embracing the blessing of getting older we are stuck on reclaiming our past.  This is in starch contrast to the scripture which teaches us to honor the elderly, embrace the wisdom to be gained from living through every season of life in the Lord.1 Even those not in God who have made it through all seasons of life can tell you what didn’t work even if they haven’t figured out what did.
The outward man perishes this is a fact that botox treatments can’t prevent, facelifts can’t ignore, and hair coloring can’t hide.  Yet rather than spending our energy and money on trying to hold on to our youth we should spend more time on renewing that which is not subject to decay with age, but rather improves with age.  Because though this outward man perishes this inward man (Spirit man) is renewed. 2
Please understand I am not opposed to trying to preserve or take care of the body we have, because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, but there is a difference between maintaining and attempting to reclaim.3 Timothy points out that bodily exercise profits a little.4 So should I spend most of my time focusing on the little profit I get from it or should I spend more time and resources on that which will yield a more profitable result?
I am reminded of Moses who even in death his eyes did not dim and neither did he lose his strength at the age of one hundred and twenty.5 If we look at the life of Moses what was the ingredient to his success?  What do we observe from His life?  We know he spent lots of time with God in the very presence of God and he obeyed God.  We’d probably do well if we would do likewise.
Finally, please don’t misunderstand me I am not saying let yourself go by any means.  What I am saying is we would profit more from sitting in His presence then applying all these different techniques we apply to our skin and body.  Know which race you should run, because not every race available is worth the energy required to run it.  Celebrate the blessing of being here another day no matter what age you are, and rather then trying to reclaim your youth, embrace the gift you are as a walking, breathing page of history that has wisdom to impart to the next generation.
1(Lev 19:32)  Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.
(Pro 16:31)  The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
2(2Co 4:16)  For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
3(1Co 6:19)  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
4(1Ti 4:8)  For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
5(Deu 34:7)  And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

Who are we?
By: Beloved Bondservant
This month as we remember the 236th year of our independence from Britain.  The fruitful vine that was once named Vineland because of its bounty has both blossomed to its greatest height, and is currently reaching a major low.  While many still wrestle with whether or not we were founded as a Christian nation or not, I cannot ignore the preponderance of evidence that points to the fact that we were founded on Christian principles.  The amazing connection between the laws of Deuteronomy is woven into the original laws of the U.S. Constitution.  The understanding that our rights don’t come from a King, or even a President, but that our rights come from the Creator is not only still very present in our Declaration of Independence, but is the very document that seared the conscience of a nation that was falling far short of the lofty aspirations that its words revealed.  I am not sure if we have ever reached the fullness of the words written therein, but this I can say as long as the words of the Declaration of Independence remain written and capable of being seen there is still hope.
The tide of lies that have been fed in our nation concerning an existence from nothing has been the greatest disservice to our current generation.  The belief that rather than being in the image and likeness of God, we were made in the image and likeness of a monkey has no doubt become the catalyst that has caused our youth to come to the conclusion that school is a useless venture leading to nowhere.  From one generation that died for the privilege to read and write, and recognized that their freedom was attached to that ability, to a generation that sees no relevance in it.  Causing them to lose the very rights by default through ignorance only continues to further this state of loss.

So, as we prepare for another year to recognize our independence from Britain, let us be mindful to hold fast to our independence in general.  We find ourselves becoming more and more a global society with the inevitable end becoming a one world government.  Yet, we must ask ourselves if we are indeed people of the book whether or not that is the Father’s desire for us?  As we study history, we find that it was when the children of Israel begin to ask for the same things the other nations had that trouble for them began.  They went from being an independent nation with their only leadership being the Creator of heaven and earth, to a nation that suffered horrendous taxation under selected Kings, which inevitably ended in them going into captivity.  So now what do we see before our very eyes, the very same pattern playing out in our nation.  We have gone from a nation that had inevitable rights provided by our Creator, to government given privileges that left and right are being stripped under the guise of security, tolerance, and democracy.  No longer seeking dependence on God, but rather looking to government, hospitals, and businesses to save us.
I am here to remind you that a people who don’t remember their past are destined to suffer in their future.  We have to take responsibility for our health, our finances, and our choices and the consequences they may bring.  Not just as a people, but also as a nation.  As the offspring of an irresponsible government and irresponsible capitalistic system, we have followed suit in our personal spending, our personal health care, and the like in passing the buck, not realizing eventually we will run out of hands to pass it to, and the buck will come back to us.  So, today, we have to take charge of our own lives and mind our own business.  We need to no longer turn to the Pastor to reach God for us, the government to pay bills for us, or our doctors to safeguard our lives.  We must take responsibility for our choices, our lives, and most importantly for our relationship with the Almighty.  We were given independence from man, so that we could have a dependent relationship with God, not on man’s terms, but on the Creator’s terms.  So let’s declare our independence to the systems of this world and proclaim our dependence on YHWH to provide for all our needs.

A Hebrew Moment
By: Beloved Bondservant
Bet

Is the second character of the Hebrew Aleph bet.  To look at it, it resembles the floorplan from an aerial view of a house.  Its concrete meaning is “House” or “tent”.  Because Abraham was nomadic he lived in a tent which is a mobile home in today’s terminology.  He understood this world was not his home, and so he was always on quest looking for a city whose builder and maker was God.  The important question for us is are we?  Thus, the second character also doubles as a preposition meaning “in”.  Because the purpose of the house is to contain a family.  Therefore who lives in a house is what’s important.

BN

The word for son is “bet nun” illustrated above.  The character nun is the picture of a seed sprout, and put together the word means “house seed”.  The son carries the seed of the house he represents.  It is the seed of a man that impregnates a woman, and to go even further, it is the seed of the house that the child is named after.

Life Lesson’s

Set Apart Farm
Thoughts from the Farm
By Donna
I remember being asked once to name something I could do independently, without help. In only a few seconds I named several things, one of which was “read a book”. Happy that I could so easily answer such a silly question, I sat back with a proud, arrogant smile. I quickly learned a lesson I hold dear to this very day.
Following my quick and lighthearted response, I was asked how that book came to be. Someone wrote it, someone cut down trees to make the paper, another bound the book, someone drove it to a bookstore, an employee sold me the book and handed it to me, along with countless others to complete the process of the book getting into my hands.
With that in mind, I attempted again to name something I could do independently. Every time I tried, it was pointed out to me that another person, in one way or another, made my effort possible. Needless to say, I was unable to come up with anything that did not require the help of another person in one form or another.
Independence, what does it really mean? Is it important? Is it even possible? Were we really created to be independent?
I love watching my children play independently, yet it thrills my heart even more when they unite to play a game or accomplish a task. I watch them each independently finish a project that helps complete a school assignment, dependent on the input from each individual.
There are also times when I will talk to them about working together and accepting help from others and participating in a team effort, working as the “body” (1Cor 12:14). Encouraging them to be a unique independent individual while also humbly and graciously acting in a dependent manner so others may rely on them or conversely. In doing this, we are able to shine His light in every situation.
When we look at Scripture, we clearly see blessings or curses in relation to our obedience to YHWH. When we are obedient, we are rewarded. Not necessarily here in this lifetime, for we are promised treasure in heaven. Sometimes, we are blessed in the here and now because we have acted in obedience. Have you ever given your grocery money to a widow with hungry children, and the next day a neighbor brings you the excess from their garden? Then there is illness, just one of the curses we face because of disobedience. YHWH is faithful to His Word! Just as our children depend on us, we too, look to our Creator and depend on Him. I know the outcome of my actions because I depend on His Word to be truth.
How then do we choose what to do? Do we decide to obey, or do we run after our fleshly desires? We must recognize our independent choices, decisions and actions.  Did Abraham freely choose to obey and act on the decision to take Isaac up that mountain? He didn’t have to obey, he could have pleaded to YHWH or simply offer a different sacrifice. Can you recall a time your heart was spoken to? Did you obey your Fathers quiet voice? I was called to speak to my earthly father about his salvation. I chose to disobey, it was too difficult. The consequence of my independent choice was literally life and death, eternal life or eternal death for my father. Thankfully, I was given another opportunity to obey a week later.
How often are we tempted to follow our own direction when the path we should be following is laid before us in His Word. My children love to find their “own” way of doing something. We encourage this independent approach, as long as it does not interfere with the goal or the rules that have been established. We too, can be independent, as long as we follow His pattern, His direction, His Torah. We have chosen to homeschool our children. My husband and I come together to decide how and what to teach our three blessings, unconstrained from public or private educational facilities. In doing so, we strive to lead our children to the Father in every subject matter. Praying they too, freely choose to follow and obey YHWH.
Scripture is an invaluable guide for us to know when and how to be dependent and/or independent. So here is the question…where in your life will you be independent and/or dependent? Does your independent attitude or action glorify our Creator? How do your dependent actions shine a light for others to follow Him? What are our children learning by watching us in our dependence and independence?

Book of the Month
Original Intent
David Barton does an awesome job of explaining the original intent of the founding fathers.  Not understanding the principles in which we as a nation are built will lead to losing the liberties we enjoy.  This book provides the resources available to be able to draw your own independent conclusion based on the facts presented as to the intention of the Founding Fathers concerning our nation. This is a must have resource for anyone who is looking for a  well documented resource that provides evidence as to the intention of the Founding Father’s concerning our nation.

In The Dwelling Place of the Wise
This oil provides the aromatic woodsy fragrance that adorned the walls, ceiling, and floor of the Solomon’s Temple.  When we look at the benefits of this oil it is no wonder King Solomon the wisest man to live would make this wood top choice. (1 Kgs 6:15) Cedarwood stimulates the limbic region of the brain (the center of emotions), it also stimulates the pineal gland, which releases melatonin.  The smell of this wood although pleasant to us, has the ability to repel insects.  Cedarwood is known to be a durable wood, making it very expensive to purchase.  While many of us don’t have the resources of King Solomon to build our home with this precious wood, with therapeutic grade essential oil we can bring the benefits of this fragrance into our lives at a fraction of the cost.  In a clinical test Dr. Terry Friedmann, MD found this oil was able to successfully treat ADD and ADHD in children. By Beloved Bondservant

What does it really cost you to get that lather?  Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is a foaming agent found in personal hygiene products like soaps, shampoos, and toothpaste.  The fact that this agent is inexpensive should be the first sign of its inferiority.  However, this product has a close relative called Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES).  As with anything the enemy produces you better believe there will be duplicates and this is no different.  Remember, we wrestle not with flesh and blood, so don’t allow the enemy to defeat you based on your ignorance.  Be informed because the enemy thrives in our ignorance and gains from our indifference.  As with many other products as consumers begin to read their labels producers begin to use newer names to hide under.  SLS is also known as “sulfuric acid monododecyl ester sodium salt”, however there are over 150 dfferent names by which it is known.  Which like I told you last month a good rule of thumb is if the product you are using has a name you can’t pronounce it is probably not something that should be in your body.  Fortunately due to the potential danger these products can have injested toothpastes with this substance in it carries the poison control label which is your first clue there is a problem.  The very first question you should ask yourself whenever you are using a product is why should I apply something to my skin and worse put something in my body that has a Warning sign attached to it, especially when that sign includes the potential for death?  Hmm….However, as I stated before the wise consumer will do their homework.  But the close relative SLES is more dangerous then SLS While SLS is known to cause skin corrosion and severe irritation in concentrations of 10-30%, SLES has a substance called dioxane in it which is a known carcinogen.  Keep in mind a carcinogen is a substance that has the ability to cause cancer.  So in addition to what you are eating what you are washing your skin with, brushing your teeth with, and shampooing your hair with can cause you to be a candidate for cancer.

Could your hormone problem be a result of imitation hormones mimicking the real ones?  Just like rats can tell the difference between imitation cheese and real cheese our bodies can tell the difference between God created hormones and man manipulated ones.  SLS is not only a skin irritant, but it is also absorbed through the skin.  High levels of skin penetration may occur at even low concentrations?  So those people who say well its only a little in my soap, shampoo, detergent, etc… are taking a risk everytime they get use products with this substance.  Once SLS molecules attach to oestrogen receptors (oestrogen is a hormone found normally in both men and women.), they mimick the effects of the hormone in various body systems.  The result is hormonal chaos.  You can no longer control your own oestrogen levels (or at least, what it sees as its own oestrogen levels – it can’t tell the difference between endogenous oestrogen and SLS) and therefore loses control of many normal endocrine (hormonal) functions.

Now personally I don’t like to tell you about what you can’t use unless I can offer you a viable alternative.  For those of you using products with this in it, I recommend you value your life more then the money you wasted on this product.  Purchase a quality noncarcinogenic, non skin irritant, product even if it doesn’t lather the way you like it, it is better to have a little less lather and a higher quality of life then the other way around.  Young Living offers a host of alternatives that would be a much higher quality alternative including Thieves toothpaste which will help you safely fight germs.  Several shampoo choices that boast not utilizing these cheap agents.  I know many reading this may say its so expensive though!  Let me tell you something it is a lot cheaper to keep your health then to try to get it back.  What you spend on maintaining a quality life will save you years of misery and medical bills to try to get it back.  Use the money you will have to spend later on hormone replacement therapy to be good to your body now.  Use the money you would otherwise have to spend on chemotherapy or radiation to keep your body well now.  So my response is find a safe alternative, if the products mentioned here are too expensive go old school.  Baking Soda is a known cleaning agent that is safe to use for teeth brushing, deodorant, and because it absorbs odor excellent to use as an air freshener.  If you gotta have a little taste a little mint goes a long way.  I recommend purchasing some YLTG (Young Living Therapeutic Grade) peppermint oil, place a few drops in your baking soda toothpaste mixture and receive the added benefits of killing parasites or bacteria that can be found in your mouth.  Along with a minty fresh feeling that will stay with you all day.  However, I wouldn’t recommend using it under your arms unless combined with a fatty oil to dilute it.   While therapeutic grade mint is safe to apply neat, in sensitive areas it will tingle which is a natural characteristic of a menthol, but can be uncomfortable for the wearer, but not harmful.  Young Living Thieves oil is another alternative oil that can be used both internally or applied neat to the skin.  Same rules apply if applying as deodorant use with fatty oil (vegetable, coconut, jojoba, olive, etc…)
For more information on studies done on SLS and SLES please click here to read the Journal of the American College of Toxicology report done in 1983.
